Perform a Books Search in ESV:

topic:="Epistle to the Galatians" misses Ch 5 and incl. 3x from Acts (8 res in 8 articles)

Search omits Ch 5 and doesn't highlight ALL of the other chapters. Also includes parts of 3 chapters from Acts.

topic:="Epistle to the Romans" lists Ch 1 (1 res in 1 articles)

Highlights part of Ch 1 and omits the other chapters

topic:="Epistle to the Ephesians" lists 6 Ch, not all based on v.1 (10 res in 6 articles)

lists 10 results from parts of its 6 chapters!

topic:="Epistle to the Philippians" (4 res in 4 articles)

highlights all text in its 4 chapters. A results I'm expecting from the other books.

topic:="Epistle to the Colossians" (4 res in 4 articles)

highlights all text in its 4 chapters. A results I'm expecting from the other books.

topic:="First Epistle to the Thessalonians" incl. 2x from Acts (10 res in 7 articles)

And I don't understand the results when the Equals sign is removed.

I may be missing something in your repro steps because I'm getting entirely different results. As near as I can tell, it's hitting all the Galatians cross-references:

I'm reporting the results of topic:="Epistle to the Galatians" in Narrow Reference matching, whilst you are using Default matching with topic:"Epistle to the Galatians" which greatly conflates the results because it is looking for all the cross-references.

In terms of a Narrow matching:

you are looking for term:(bible:"Galatians 1:1–6:18" OR topic:"Epistle to the Galatians" )
I am trying to understand the results of topic:"Epistle to the Galatians" ---> topic:= makes no difference

I'm expecting it to highlight all the chapters of the book
I don't understand the highlighting of three verses from Acts.
