Will the 28.1 fixes be reflected in the next release of 29.0 beta?

Yes, the fixes should be in Beta 2.

This version works well. Both the link set problem and the huge slow-down are fixed. But a new "feature" is that our last open panels/books are lost when we close the software. Was that done out of necessity to fix the problem? Can we expect that feature to return in the future? It was pretty nice to be able to close a session without thinking about saving open resources to come back to them later.

(Although, this is the way it worked in 26.1 also. So, I haven't really lost any functionality. If this is how it needs to be to run without errors, I'll get used to saving my layout before closing the software.)

That was certainly not an intended change. Can you confirm the value of your setting for "At Startup Open to" in Program Settings? On my machine, it is correctly reloading the previously open panels.

Thanks, Nick. That was the problem. I guess that setting was dumped when I did a clean install of 26.1.

Yes. Based on internal testing and user reports running the Sonoma beta, 28.1 should be compatible with macOS Sonoma.
