Issues activating/using Bibliotheca Sacra Volumes 1-90

Has anyone purchased or attempted to load or use any of the resources from the Bibliotheca Volumes 1-90 by Galaxie Software?  I cannot seem to get it to run in Logos 4 Mac even after calling and activating the serial #/downloading and by trying to drag the resources manually into the resource folder from the cd and manually indexing.  Logos does not seem to to recognize the files.

This resource is a 3.0 cd only software and I was wondering if its even compatible with L4 Mac.

This technique does not work on any resources for L4. Can you describe what happens when you execute an update now from the command box?

The afore mentioned effort was recommended by Logos CS as one of many attempts we made.  I called to submit serial numbers for two cd resources and over 500 MBs of resources were downloaded from the server.  The first resource (Arch. Odyssey) worked just fine but the Bib Sac. files never found their way to the resource folder.  I just deleted all the files I manually transferred because as you said it didn't work.

When I stick the Bib Sac cd in the drive, scan for optical media, close down Logos, open Logos up again, the blue icon appears for 5 to 10 seconds with a stage 1 of 3 status and then quickly disappears before the Logos window comes up.

It seems something is preventing it from progressing further in retrieving the Bib Sac files, and I've got a stable internet connection.  Thanks for the help thus far MJ!

2 Peter 3:18  But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

Bib Sac should work exactly like the Arch Odyssey. Did you use the Mac 1 product? If so, have you tried to add the product to it and sync the licenses?

hmm, thanks for verifying that its not the resource wholly thats the problem.  I've never had this happen to me in Logos before with cd/dvd resources.

I tried the "scan optical media" option again with shut down and restart and noticed it progressed to stage 2 of 3 before stopping and opening the Logos home screen.  There's something to be said for the abrupt stop.  I've had two different people from Logos over the phone check to see if the resource was activated properly and there was no hesitation in it being true.

Ben are you running L4 for Mac or PC?  My other thought was that for some reason the Bib Sac resources were having issues on the Mac.

That's the next potential source for the problem on my list as well - but I was thinking of testing that with the previous Mac version.

No, my computer has never had Mac 1 installed to my knowledge as I've only been on Logos for the last 6 alphas and the 10 betas of L4.  Is there any use in continuing to try the scan optical media method with shut down and restart.  I think I might restart my computer entirely for grins...

Before restarting but after deleting all the files I had unsuccessfully transfrerred into the resource folder, I noticed my resource count went down from 1586 to 1585.  Then I restarted my computer and tried "scan optical media" + shut down/restart of Logos to find my resource count was back to 1586.  During this optical media scan the blue Logos icon reached the indexing stage for less than 5 seconds (assuming to index the one resource I had previously lost) before disappearing.

The Bib Sac journals themselves are still not appearing...

    Thanks Tom!

just so you know I have an open ticket with customer service on the issue and left off pretty much where this thread begins.  I jumped on my wife's Windows XP laptop with Libronix 3.0g and the Bib Sac resources worked just fine.

I also synchronized the resource in Libronix 3.0g just to verify the resource being unlocked.  Everything seems to check out.

Lastly, I do recall wondering if the resource files ending in .lbxlls had anything to do with the lack of compatability in L4Mac

.lbxlls are LDLS3 (or Libronix) resources which are fully supported on Mac.

My wife was sick today so I wasn't in the office so I didn't get a chance to look at this. Sorry about that. I'm going to file a bug so I don't forget and I'll let you know when I have something.

Just did some digging in our bug database and these resources specifically have some problems in Logos 4 that we've noted in the past. I'll update you if/when I discover anything else.

I had the same problem.  I managed to solve it by copying files onto my hardisk from galaxies ftp site and then doing a local scan for resources.  Could it be that Logos just have the wrong resources on their own site?

    Adrian,

So grabbing them from ftp://ftp.bible.org/galaxie/libronix/TJL/ and putting them into say "GalaxieSoftware" on your Desktop. Then type "Scan ~/Desktop/GalaxieSoftware" into the command bar, then restart?

Alright so I did as Mr. Warnock advised using the ftp link you provided Tom, and after downloading all 90 files and having Logos scan my resource folder (where I dropped them) Logos is now indexing them and my resource count has increased by 90 resources.

I think we may have zeroed in on the problem and found at least a temporary solution.

This brings two more closing questions:

The Bib Sac 1-90 Resource cd had something like 118 resources on it including the ASV and KJV Bible translations.  Do I need to somehow obtain any of the other resources from the cd for the journals to function completely?

At one point during this adventure I deleted my usermanager.db file in the users folder to force Logos to re-download my entire library with the hope of finding the Bib Sac 1-90 journals.  As a result I have two (how else might I describe these?) random name folders in the Data folder housing all my resources... twice!

Is it ok to delete the old folder that is not the most recently downloaded location of all my resources or should I keep both of them on my hard drive? The older folder is around 12.72 GB and the newer one (housing the journals now) is 14.34 GB

*edit* it seems the new "random name" date folder fluctuates in size for some reason and while the 90 files /= ~1.25 GB it did increase overall after the journals were added. *edit*

Thanks again MJ, Ben, Tom, Adrian, and Tammy for ironing this one out!

It should be OK. You can also delete the corresponding folder in Documents too after you've verified you still have all your old documents.

Question: Will this issue be fixed so that those that buy the resources in the future will be able to download them from Logos? What if next year my system crashes and I need to install Logos fresh and download all my resources. Will this resource download as part of that since I will forget all about this work around. This is all hypothetical, of course. I do not own the resource, but I may some day.
