While Logos on iPad is disappointing in my opinion, I think the new MacBook Air announced today might be the best solution of making Logos portable. In Short, it is instant on, making your Logos always ready. And I think its flash memory might increase the performance in a certain sense (and decrease the performance in other sense, e.g. the slower CPU.). And it costs USD999, which is even cheaper than some of the Logos Library.

What do you think? Is it a great idea to mobile Bible study with Logos?

I will let you know how it works next week when I get my 13-inch Air.

I have both the iPad (16GB WiFi) and the MacBook Air 13" w/ 256GB storage.

The two work together in beautiful conjunction while I'm on the road. The MacBook Air is light, easily portable and yet has all the power I need to run Logos and Microsoft Word and a web browser (to search for illustrations) all at the same time. The flash drive makes Logos seem to run with far greater alacrity on this unit than on my full-sized workhorse computers at home. It will be interesting to see if anyone runs some search time comparisons that match up the MacBook Air's SSD against a regular workstation with 7200 RPM disks.

Anyhow, I am able to get quality work done using the MacBook Air. At home I plug it in to a 24" 1080p monitor for a lot of extra screen real estate.

When reading extensively, however, I still prefer the iPad. Perhaps it's one of my (many) quirks, but the iPad's form-factor is much more comfortable when I'm trying to read carefully of the many volumes in my Logos library. Right now, for example, I am reading George Peters' The Theocratic Kingdom. I have yet to find any computer/monitor configuration that is as comfortable, natural and inviting as the iPad for this sort of reading.

Here's a dollar bill. Give me ninety-eight cents' change and you'll have my two cents' worth on this subject.

Blessings...

Kevin, did you ever post your impressions of the MacBook Air? I'd be interested in seeing that.

The new macbook airs released later this month (supposedly on this wednesday) so should be a much needed performance boost.

This is still just a rumor. No confirmation from Apple, so don't hold your breath.

Noted rumor => http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/14/us-apple-macbook-idUSTRE75D0JM20110614

Also note lack of MacBook Air supplies constrained that typically precedes a refresh => http://www.macrumors.com/2011/06/09/constrained-supplies-suggest-mac-mini-server-and-mac-pro-server-headed-for-refresh/

Looking forward to OS X Lion and Mac model refreshes "soon".
