I'm such a fan of the Logos Community Pricing program that I wanted to start another thread to keep discussion about the program alive. I believe it is one of the best hidden treasures of Logos.com.

For those who don't know, community pricing is like the pre-pre-pub of Logos. Others refer to it as the public domain project because most of the titles offered have expired copyrights.

If you're looking to get some great resources at a really low rate, check out the Community Pricing program. A couple of articles that will help you understand the program and how to bid can be found at:

http://www.logos.com/communitypricing/about

and

http://blog.logos.com/archives/2010/02/how_community_pricing_works.html

If you're into newer resources or titles by a particular publisher, this isn't the program for you. But if you're like me and treasure the OLD GUYS ... puritans, revivalists, etc. then you'll want to check this out. You need to get in early, because once the resource reaches production, prices increase!

Recommendations:
- Barnes Notes is nearing completion at $30.
- The Works of John Gill shows promise at $40.
- The Complete Works of Tobias Crisp almost done at $20.
- John Lightfoot (11 vol.) showing interest at $30.

Personally, I think you should bid on Gill. ;-)

LOGOS CP LATE EDITION NEWS FLASH

The Complete Works of Tobias Crisp (2 vols.) has now eclipsed the slow moving 14 vol. Barnes Notes of the OT & NT to take the lead as "most progressed" on the CP page.  Repeated attempts, to contact both Barnes and Crisp for comment, were unsuccessful.

Please, put your bid in for John Gill.  Lets get Barnes off of the community list.  $30 is more than reasonable. Likewise $40 is reasonable for Gill.

This is the one I ordered on prepub at some inflated price before it appeared on CP. Weeks of (nearly) free entertainment on your Kindle or iPad, nand the suggested price is only $20!

I see Crisp is forging ahead.  Can anyone sell him to me, persuade me I need him?  Lots of people obviously are fans of his, and I know nothing about him.  (started another thread asking this, but this thread seems more suitable...)

Personally, I am really hoping for a few more (ok, a lot more...) bids on the Jewish and Catholic encyclopaedias. Look at the prices, folks, they're almost free! Smile

And I do wish they had put the Patrologia into CP as well! Sad

As someone said a long time ago, why not bid on all of them, the prices are so low and they don't all come in....so I did!

I thought many of these works would fly to the 100% mark, there are a lot of very well known materials on the community pricing right now.  I have several of the larger sets my self, they are very useful as just pdf files, I will replace every set with the logos format, and be thankful to get them!

No not all the information is up to date but most of it is and I use these sources all of the time and will use them more if they make it to Logos!

Great library builders and some of the information in these books are hard to find today.

Thanking God for this chance!
