Help Very frustrated

I saved up for a long time to get Logos 4:

It has been a disaster!

I can't print anything, it crashes often, I can't figure out how to make notes or or create any sort of functional note system.

I have sent multiple emails only to get some form response with no real help.

I gave up for months & just didn't use it but I tried again tonight only for it to crash & burn again.  Is it really this bad or complicated of a product?

I just don't think it should be this difficult!

Any chance they will give me a refund?

If have not used Logos 4 Mac for months, wondering which version installed ?  Current stable release is Logos 4.0b SR-4 (4.10.4.9457) - released 18 Jan 2011.  Logos Bible Software has powerful study capabilities - some easy to use, others take awhile to learn (still learning daily).

To help with crash, please post log files, wiki has How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac

Also wondering if resource download has completed along with indexing ?  Until indexing done, search is useless (and affects other features that use search to find stuff).  As noted on Logos 4 Mac overview initial resource download and indexing can take many hours - best to ignore Logos 4 Mac until indexing done (blue Logos icon disappears from menu bar).

Looking at Mac Release Notes and History do remember versions being more crash prone months ago.

Suggest calling Logos 1-800-875-6467 (Mon - Fri 6 am - 5 pm Pacific) - can ask for refund and/or technical support

Logos, I understand are very good with refunds they do not want unhappy customers.

However I think that ditching Logos is not the wisest move if you are interested in serious Bible study.

    As KS4J suggested

First make sure that you have the latest stable version of the program.

Second make sure that you have allowed all your resources to download and index.

However you have picked on the two weaknesses of the current version.

Most printing is non functional  -  most of us get around that by Select - Cut - Paste into an outside word processor.

Though others ague with me I have never found a use for Raw printed content from Logos so I don't really miss this option.

Notes is more of a problem for others - I tend to prepare my sermons and material in Pages others use Scriviner or Evernote.  I understand that the notes section has been improved in the latest Beta and will eventually come onto the stable stream.

It really is a great program - not perfect but very very useful.

I can see no improvement at all in Beta 7. If anything, notes in L4 Mac have become even more annoying as scrolling causes lines of text to pile on top of one another.

As to confirming the latest stable version, in the "Logos Bible Software 4" menu select "About Logos Bible Software 4". The first line begins "Logos Bible Software 4". Tell us what you see in that same line after those opening words. I have been on the Beta channel so long that I do not remember the last stable version, but I am sure that Mike or KS4J has that information.

As I mentioned in the post just above that one, Notes is practically non-functional in L4 Mac at this time. However, there are many other features that can enhance your Bible study.

Watch the instructional videos by Mark Barnes http://www.4-14.org.uk/logos/tutorial-videos . Even though he uses Windows, what he demonstrates is readily adaptable to the Mac. Who knows? By the time you finish watching those, Notes may be working in the Mac version.

If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask. The only stupid question is the one you fail to ask.

If you used Logos before on the currently attempted box, you should really remove all the old footprint on your hard drive, and start with the latest stable version of the application (and go through resource downloads and indexing).

I would strongly suggest you give support a *phone* call. Their support model is best suited to traditional phone support if the forums are not to your liking (or able to fill your need).

If notes or printing are important, you'll need to either wait longer (3-6 months?) or ask for a refund, but I would urge you to try out the current stable version for a few days before you make this choice.

    Its unusable for me!

    Locks up often!

Very counterintuitive & since I know very little about computers all of the talk on these forums is way over my head.  Customer support is good however & they acknowledged that it is a very difficult program to learn & work & that they were having major problems with a considerable amount of MAC users.

They offered me my $ back but I am going to keep trying a bit longer before I take them up on it because I still have hope!  I just don't have 5 to 10 hours to learn a whole new system.  It is simply not easy for MAC users lots of control clicks, unable to print, no dragging etc.

Sorry to be debbie downer but I have had a bad experience with the program!

Logos has Mac video introductions and tutorials => http://www.logos.com/videos/mac (individual videos usually 6 minutes or less)

Logos is a powerful Bible Study program - does have a learning curve - Logos forums have many users willing to help.  Some Logos 4 Mac items are not instantaneous (e.g. forum http://community.logos.com/forums/t/30415.aspx includes a personal lesson learned about customizing Exegetical Guide to remove Word by Word section - scrolling reminded me of stop and go traffic)

After many months learning Logos little by little, now Thankful for visual filter that color highlights English words in reverse interlinear bibles - red letters with yellow background are imperatives:

    image

In Philippians 4:4-9, noted Paul used 7 verbs in imperative mood, which are commands.

Also, wiki is primarily maintained by volunteers - lots of useful information => http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Mac

Concur counterintuitive to right click on menu items for context options (also bit counterintuitive on PC) - does work nice.

Logos 4.2a can print - anticipating stable release soon (release candidate available for beta testing).  Logos 4.2a does need to rebuild indexes.

Apologies - please elaborate about "no dragging" - have dragged many resources to rearrange - also have dragged to change panel widths.
