Gareth Reese has written a commentary on the book of Acts. It was originally published by College Press I think. It is the best commentary on Acts I've ever seen. Is there any hope that we can get it into Logos 4 format?

Lonnie, thank you for suggesting Gareth Reese's commentary on Acts. He is a fantastic scholar, preacher and friend. He was my primary New Testament professor when I was doing my undergrad studies. He now self publishes all of his commentaries primarily for his students. He is somewhat hesitant to "go electronic" with his work, but we are starting to make some headway (at least he is seeing the possibilities). Acts and the rest of his commentaries would be tremendous additions to Logos.
What I liked most about Reese's treatment is that he was willing to go through Acts on a phrase-by-phrase basis. After going above the level of study bibles to full-blown commentaries, I still find a lot of cherry-picking, only caring to give treatment to certain parts.
Reese also had some very interesting and useful "special studies"--separate sections incorporated into the narrative--where Paul's converts leave the occult. Many of these would fit comfortably into pamplets, and should be made available to far more people than only those who own a commentary. I could imagine far fewer church members leaning toward acceptance in occultic areas God repeatedly warned us to steer clear of (foretelling, palmreading, divination, astrology, familiar spirits, etc.).
I have never heard of this author, thanks for bringing him to my attention. I just checked on Amazon, I see his books are out of print. What a shame, I wish I could review some of his work in hard copy.
Ted

Hi Ted. Gareth's books are NOT out of print (as Amazon indicates). You can get his books through the bookstore at Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, MO, 65270. They are "reasonably" priced for commentaries ($30 per volume range). His commentaries are on the books of: Acts, Romans, 1 Corinthians (2 Corinthians is in the final stages of preparation), 1 & 2 Timothy/Titus, Hebrews, 1 & 2 Peter/Jude. Several of his books are still in "mimeo" format and they include: the latter part of the Life of Christ (primarily the final week), New Testament Prophecy (Revelation) and some others. They are similarly priced to his commentaries. But I assure you, they are STILL IN PRINT.
Who is the publisher? College Press's website doesn't mention him.
EDIT: nevermind, I saw you said he has self-published. (Self-publishing is as good as out-of-print to most people, since there's no easy way to find the books without knowing the author).
Thanks for the reply. I checked the above book store's website I only found one of his books listed. Am I missing something?
Blessings.

Ted,
My guess would be to call them and find out about the rest of his commentaries. Acts is the first one that he did. He has taught "Acts" for the 57 years of the college's history. In the early days of the school, he would go home after class and type up the notes for the next day's lectures. After several years, he then published his Commentary on Acts. College Press had the publishing rights for several years and then because of their budget restraints, they decided to no longer publish it. Gareth then decided to self-publish.
I take it for granted about getting his books, because I am back on campus several times during the year and just as a "force of habit," I go to the bookstore. They have in stock all of his books (not sure about all the "memeo" material. I know when a new semester starts, the bookstore already knows how many students will be needing his books and they have more than ab adequate supply of each one of them.
Hope you can get something from him. You will either: 1) love it, or 2) hate it...ha ha. Not quite that extreme, but he will challenge you.
