I am working on my sermon prep and when I type in my passage in the search box on the home page, it begins to load and then crashes. Any help would be appreciated.

Your crash is caused by a bug that occurs when rendering certain Biblical People graphs that will be fixed in the next beta.
As a workaround, try the following:
After you've done this, future guides that you create should generate with the Biblical People section collapsed by default. As long as you don't expand it, you shouldn't run into this crash.
