creating a flag

i would like to be able to place a "flag" or marker (kind of like highlighting with a hyperlink) within any text and it would allow a shortcut to another text location.

No this does not exist in the exact way that you wish.

But you can sort of do this with Note and hyperlinks within your note.

1.  In a book you can create a Note. Use your mouse to select a word.
   a.  In the pop-up menu on the right click on Selection.
   b.  Now at the bottom click on your note file (you should have already opened it prior to step # 1).

2.  In you note add text to help you know what you are doing, also text for a hyperlink.
  a. In another book which you want to link to, position that location close to the top of it's panel.

  b.  Now in that resource click on the book icon to open it's menu.
  c.  In the menu click on URL. (this copies the link location of your book to the clipboard)

3.  Now in your note use your mouse to drag over the text in which you want to be a hyperlink. (this selects it and turns it blue)
  a.  Right click in the Hyperlink box. (a pop-up menu will appear)
  b.  Click on Paste. (this pastes your link that you copied in step 2c)

4.  Now click off of your selected text to deselect it.
  a.  Notice that your text is now a hyperlink. If you click on it you will see a pop-up box showing you what your link points to.
  b.  Notice the instructions in the pop-up box. If you hold the Ctrl key down and click on your link it will open your book to your link.

5.  Notice that your original note is marked in your 1st book. In the future you can click on the note marker to have Logos 4 open your note.
  a.  And when your note opens if you click on your hyperlink (while holding the Ctrl key down) it will open your 2nd book to your link location.

Yes, allowing users to create "links" from a point in one resource to a point in another would be nice. If you'd like to propose that feature and get other users to vote on it (the more popular a feature is, the more likely Logos will consider it), post it on http://logos.uservoice.com

i am not sure that suggestion will provide the same function as i was suggesting.

that one seemingly updates old resources with user submitted input. i'm not sure i follow it beyond that.....

It would still accomplish what you want. The key sentence in that suggestion was "Use the technology behind notes and clippings to allow users to add their own hyperlinks." Once you've got that, who cares whether they also allow you to submit your added hyperlink to Logos to share with other users or build in to the old resources. Yes, the reason that other person suggested this feature was for users to be able to create missing hyperlinks that should have been in there already in the first place (because there are references in the text to other books in Logos's library). But if the general ability to add hyperlinks of your own were there, you could do whatever you want with it! [:)]
