Large blank sections on my logos books

I am noticing that many of my books have large blank sections in them. The text of the book will suddenly stop, and I will have to scroll down through blank white space before the text picks up again (where it left off). I have noticed this happening in the BHS, several Word Biblical Commentaries, and van der Merwe's Biblical Hebrew Reference Grammar.
Background, I recently transferred my logos 4 from an XP machine to a Windows 7 machine. I performed a software update several days ago but this did not fix the problem.

When you say you transferred Logos4 from an XP machine to a Windows7 machine, are you referring to a fresh installation, or did you copy your installation using one of the methods described in the wiki?
If you did a fresh installation, has indexing finished?
Your issue may be related to indexing, so you could try typing the command rebuild library index in the command bar. Note that this will take some time, and you may want to do this at a time when you're not needing to use the computer.

This also sounds like it could be a video issue. I wonder if you have a discrete video card or just 'on-board' graphics? Are your video drivers up-to-date?

John, welcome to the forums!
Maybe you want to consider editing your post, as spammers are known to harvest open forums for email addresses. With regard to the blank white space, maybe it helps others to help you, if you post some screenshots (see http://wiki.logos.com/Screenshot for instructions). Also I think, the idea of re-indexing might not be bad if your library is not too big.

I paged through BHRG, but could not duplicate any large white space; the other resources were too large to run through right now. It does have frequent tables of Hebrew, so perhaps table handling is a possible problem. If you are using Column view odd things can happen to tables (or pics) as they are rendered. I tested on PC L4.2b SR-1.

P.S. Try switching to "Reading View" and see if you get the same experience...or to the resource in Biblia--alternate viewers.

Can you give us a screenshot or two where you see the problem, it will be easier to compare and diagnose..

Just on-board. Drivers are up to date.

JOhn,
The only time I have ever experienced something similar was with L3. In those cases I would encounter blank spaces BUT the text would not pick up where it left off. I might jump from page 50, hit white space and resume around 75 (or whatever).
In those instances I discovered that the problem was corrupted files on my hard drive. The cure was to run a CHKDSK /V/R/F (can't look up the precise command at the moment but it scanned everything even blank space)
CHKDSK /V or CHKDSK /F should do the same basic job but not scan the blank space.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

The tech dept at my school did the transfer so it wasn't a fresh install, but I am not sure if he followed the directions on the wiki. and I am currently rebuilding the index, hoping that fixes it. Thanks.

Thanks. Let me try to get a screen shot. BTW, how would one edit a previous post. I am not seeing that button.

Click on the "More" button on a post, and you'll get a menu with Edit as one of the options.

John, I believe I remember something about the version of BHS that you are using. I know that I put that version in my hidden resources as a result (so it has been deleted from my Library). Can you open another version of BHS and check to see if you have this problem?
Of course this doesn't help with the other texts you mentioned.

If the version of BHS was the problem, then put the offending one in Hidden Resources (Tools>Settings>Program Settings, down at the bottom) and when you restart Logos it will delete the file.

Indexing only affects Searches. Try deleting a couple of problem titles from the Resources folder (see http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers) and restart L4. It should download a new copy and index.

This is the version I have also, with no problems in the 2 examples we see in images...

What other resources does this happen with? Other Hebrew resources? Try changing the default font to see if the problem continues.

So I rebuilt the index but that didn't help. I reinstalled and indexed, but the problem still exists. I have been using Libronix for about 8 years adn this has never happened so it must be related to the transfer to Win7, right?
It does happen in non-Hebrew resources. Here's Lighfoot's commentary on Galatians and the Gottingen LXX on Ruth"

John, please let us know your machine specs: processor, graphics, RAM etc.
Also, please enable diagnostic logging: http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging
After enabling logging, please close, then reopen Logos, and try opening some of the resources that you know are causing problems. After doing a few of these and verifying the problem, zip up the Logos4.log file and attach it to another forum post. Can't say that will tell us anything, but we're shooting in the dark right now.

Friends,
I just restarted my computer, and everything seems fixed now. This is not the first time I have restarted since this problem began, but something I did along the way kicked in when I restarted just now. Thank you for your help with which you were very generous. I learned a lot about Logos4, and I hope things run smoothly from here on out.
Take care,
Scott

There's nothing spectacularly interesting in the logs. The issue is probably a corrupt file.
Try this:
Open the offending resource and click the information icon on the upper right of the panel. Under support info, note the file name(s) of the resource and/or copy/paste it into a separate (Word, Notepad, etc.) file.
Move the offending resources from your Library browser (CTRL-L) to Tools > Program Settings > "Hidden Resources" and close and reopen Logos4 (this should delete the resources from your hard drive).
To make sure the file is gone go to C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\[random characters]\ResourceManager\Resources and scroll down to where the resource should be in the list. Make sure it's gone. If not check your Library browser again and make sure it's not still there. If it is, hide it again and restart windows. If it isn't in your library, but the file is still on the HD, delete it manually.)
Then 'unhide' the resources you still want (right-click > "unhide," or click the "x" next to the resource in "Hidden Resources") and restart Logos again. This should download a new copy of the file and index it for you.
EDIT: posted before I saw it was fixed. I'll leave the above for future reference, in case anything like this happens again to you or someone else.

Okay so here is what happens when I click on Genesis 1 in my BHS. That space continues for some time. I noticed in this case it did not pick up where it left off.
Can you reset all the view settings back to normal: Program Scaling, Text Size, fonts, etc. and see if it makes a difference.
