It seems that we all were so excited over Forum Week that no one even found time to start a thread about this new CP -- and it still went to 100% in about a week! (I guess we're not as important as we like to think Big Smile )

Don't miss out. It's just $12, and should go lower. Here's the link.

EDIT: And here's the text itself, if anyone wants to have a look before he buys.

We've really got to stop doing this.  Reaching the production cost point before Wednesday doesn't allow a full week remaining  before closure in order to drive down the price.  [;)]

A week would certainly be better, but these two seem to have momentum so they should go down a bit anyway. It's more worrisome when slow-moving ones go over just before noon Wednesday. When that seems about to happen, and I'm in, I tend to move my bid down in hope to postpone things until after noon, and then I move it up again just after noon, hoping to help it over early.

It's gone down to $10 already - how far can we get it down in the next 2 days?

Cambridge Bible doesn't look as if it will go down, but I decided it was a cheaper alternative to the heavily discounted College Bible commentaries in the Forum sale, as well as covering all the books of the Bible.

I wouldn't totally discount the Cambridge Greek Testament Commentaries for Schools and Colleges.  What I looked at doesn't get beyond the introduction which is not necessarily useful for judging the nature of the works, but a number of these are written by Alfred Plummer, who seems to have been an important figure of the time as well as Farrer, Simcox and Moule (I believe he was the father of C D F Moule).

Y'all convinced me to jump in last night, so I did at the $10 current price.

And now it's down to $8. Not bad!

I signed up for both Cambridge sets - the Bible and the Greek NT - shortly after they hit the CP list. I've looked at some of the preview pages - I guess I could find the full texts in e-libraries online - and from what I see, there is some overlap in the NT comments between the English Bible set and the Greek NT set. But it also appeared to me from what I could read at the Logos previews that at these CP prices, you really should add both of them to your CP orders. But hurry!

I was pretty well priced out of the sale... [:(] But I'm in on this. [:)]

How much of this is duplicated in the Church Fathers set?  I know Origen is in there, and I would hate to buy this only to discover I have it already in a different form.

    Thanks!!!

You've got to buy it to find out what's in it.  [H]

You're going to worry about that for $8 ?

$8 dollars will get you 40 miles down the road.

$8 dollars will get you a decent Burger King meal.

$8 dollars will get you 8 forget-able songs.

     Or

$8 will get you a resource you'll be using a long time.

The way I justify purchasing resources in Community Pricing is to look at what they actually sell for later when they are out of production.  I see the huge hike in price and say "I bagged it for a fraction.  Wahoo!"

It is not included.  You can check the table of contents of ANF vol. IV: logosres:anf04;art=toc;off=878

The Philocalia of Origen is available on the web, which means you could create a PBB of it in the future.  So is it worth $8 to have it done for you?  (Take into account that we still don't know the costs of PBB usage).

I got a health care law that way.  [:S]  Seriously, though, I watch every penny because I have to right now.

On a different note, I changed my email address and now my post count has reset to "1".  Hmmmmm. . .

I'm glad you caught the reference.  I was wondering how many would -- especially those outside the US.

Community pricing bids has lowered amount to $ 6 for Logos to prepare and maintain resource.

My general attitude is that, even should a resource be available free on the internet, unless it is priced rather high by Logos it is desirable to have the Logos version.  There simply is no comparison.  I have the Jewish Encyclopedia in PDF format for which I paid very little (and it's nicely done by Ebookshuk), but if it ever gets out of Community Pricing, I'm going to have it whatever the price (my bid is in).  The same is true of Jastrow's dictionary of which I have free PDFs -- navigating it is a major pain in the posterior (which is not true of my PDFs of the Jewish Encyclopedia).

That's how I justify them to my wife (and Comptroller of the Purse Strings)! [;)]

    That's why Community Pricing is a win-win situation. [:D]
