BUG & Pet Peeve: Over-selection of text in Logos

Every now and then when I am selecting text in Logos, it will grab a huge amount of text instead of sentence or word/s that I wanted to select.  Since I highlight a lot, I have to slow down to see what winds up being highlighted (after all the Logos tools run).  However, I get ahead of myself and tend to use the letter key shortcut to fire my highlighter before Logos gets around to showing me what it highlighted.

Just now, I wanted to highlight a couple of words in Deut 24 and add a green underline.  However, unbeknownst to me, the over-selection bug decided that I must have really wanted to select everything that I'd read in this session--all the way back to Deut 20--and so, when I hit my Green Underline hotkey, now it ruined chapters and chapters of highlighting that will take me an hour or more to fix--IF I don't get zapped by this bug again.

The bug has been around a long time, and I'm not quite sure how to replicate it--but I encounter it a lot.

Did you try reversing the process by undoing it?  I don't know whether this works with highlighting since I almost never highlight and when I do I remove it shortly thereafter (mark something to review when current operation is complete then go back, review that and remove highlighting).

ALT+Backspace has no effect on highlighting, as far as I can tell.  Block erasing wipes out the complex stuff I wanted, along with the single "oops" I didn't.

Continuing on with de-rezzing Chapter 22...EOL

I don't have this problem with my desktop computer.

Sometimes have it on my laptop. I think it's a function of the touch pad. I get the same thing in other applications sometimes. In fact, the only way I've found to turn this off is to right-click something. Very annoying.

Are you finding this on a desktop computer, or laptop with mouse? Is this a laptop with a touch pad?

It occurs with my desktop (normal mouse) and with my tablet (pen-based selects.)

I've tried to figure out how to force it to happen, but thus far have never developed a bullet-proof case...it just happens.  The amount of text it grabs seems to be somewhat random too, but usually is a very large block--well off the screen of what is currently displayed.

Because I highlight a lot, I may be hitting this bug much more than folks who don't select lots of text as they work in Logos.

I just caught up with where I was when I last encountered this bug...at least it didn't grab all of the ESV!!!

Since I highlight a lot, I have to slow down to see what winds up being highlighted (after all the Logos tools run).

I would practice that and ensure my highlight region is in the middle of the page, not the top.

I've never encountered this before, but we'll try to reproduce the issue.

If you (or anyone else) do happen to uncover a set of steps to consistently reproduce the issue that would certainly be helpful. [:)]

Never happened to me on my laptop or desktop, sounds like you need to slow down. Have you tried ctrl/z for undo?

I've tried to Undo, but it has no effect on the application of a Highlight...at least on my computer.

Regarding duplicating my experience, I'm ambidexterous (means I can't do anything well with either hand [;)] ) so I select from left to right and right to left.  Perhaps I'll put a video camera on the screen someday and try to capture the over-selection in action--it happens to me at least once a study session, so it isn't rare--at least for me.
