Logos 4.3 RC1 and Bible Text in PBs - what happened to the Known Issue?

What happened to the following "Know Issue" from the previous Beta releases?

  • Although a resource can be built with the “Bible” type, it will not
function correctly as a Bible in Logos 4 (e.g., Copy Bible Verses, Bible
Text Only, etc., do not work).

We do not have it in the "Known Issues" of the Logos 4.3 RC1 and at the same time it was not resolved yet. Is there any plan to make it possible  to mark text as a Bible Text  Search Field in the future releases? I hope so. If not, it would cripple any PB Bibles tremendously.

You can specify fields, including the "Bible" field to accomplish this, along with selecting the "Bible" type. This may not have been included in the release notes. We'll make sure it is added to the Gold release notes for 4.3 when it ships and the information will also be in Help.

    The syntax is:  {{field-on:Bible}} ... {{field-off:Bible}}  OR {{bible-on}} ... {{bible-off}}.

    Hi Melissa

I couldn't get the bible text in my test document to work as no fields are shown in Basic Search. How do you make a popup reference to a footnote if you use this field syntax (as opposed to using Word's built-in footnote).

Thank you Melissa so much for that information. I just tried that with one Bible and it works perfectly, making that Bible fully compatible with all Logos features like Copy Bible Verses, Compare Bibles (or F7) but the main thing is... SEARCH (The Bible Search)! It works! Excellent job Logos. Thank you so much. [Y]

I've reported that Search fields in PBs aren't available from the 'All Text' or 'All Bible Text' drop-downs. You can choose a PB with Bible type and Bible text from the Bible Search panel, though.

How do you make a popup reference to a footnote if you use this field syntax (as opposed to using Word's built-in footnote).

You have to use Word's Insert Footnote feature and then use the footnote field in the footnote in Word. For example, I typed "Testing footnotes" in my Word document and then clicked on Insert Footnote (from References tab in Word 2010). At the cursor in the footnote area I typed {{field-on:footnote}} This is a test. {{field-off:footnote}}When I hover over the superscript '1' after "Testing footnotes" in the compiled book, it displays the text, "This is a test." When I check the Search Fields list in the book's info panel, Footnote Text is included.

Edit: Actually, I misstated above -- the footnote field is not required for the PB tool to recognize Footnote Text, but you do need to use Word's footnote feature.

That's what I found as the footnote field doesn't seem to make any difference.
