A Question Concerning Upgrades and Logos Credit.

Two questions:

I received an exclusive offer which stated that I could trade in my base package and upgrade to another package and subsequently have the original price included in the Logos Christmas Credit. Can some one please explain to me how this works? Is it a marketing thing which essentially means nothing because I would have already received said discounts? Or, will I receive eben more Logos credit than if I upgraded without this offer?

Secondly, if I already own resources in an upgrade package (such as Pillar) has the amount of those resources been deducted from the upgrade price (even marginally)?

There are two routes here:

1. The normal upgrade process which you can access via Logos.com. That price is supposed to reflect at least a portion of the resources you own in the upgrade, but does not give you the full value of your base package in the equation. You'll get Christmas credit for the extra you spend.

2. The Christmas special. As I understand it, take the price of your current package and deduct it from the discounted by 15% price of the package you want to upgrade to. You'll get Christmas credit on the difference.

I don't know that route 2 allows for any adjustment to your upgrade price like route 1 is supposed to already do. Compare both and decide which is the better buy for you.

And as I understand it Mark (and I must have read the thing at least twenty times to make sure I understand it!) you get Christmas credit on the full package price. So effectively you are getting Christmas credit on a purchase that could have been made a couple of years ago.

Wow! If that's the case I may have to give my sales rep a call on Monday to find out about my monthly payments. If I can keep them around $70 or $80 I might just upgrade and have enough logos credit to get NICNT/OT or WBC...That's a great deal Logos is offering! Especially since I'm not really wanting to spend that kind of money on NICNT/OT...it'd be like Logos saying "pay to upgrade and will pay you to get the set of commentaries you don't really want to pay us for"...hehehe...Alright, we'll see. The only thing that keeps me from upgrading is that I really see no use for most of the Portfolio resources, since I own many of the ones contained in it. Oh well, I'm just day dreaming ;-)

I can't imagine that's true, because that would seem too good to be true. Also, the example % in the email doesn't make sense according to that logic.

Here's another question, though. I thought I remember reading one time that there were some resources removed from some of the base packages (perhaps with the upgrade to KF?), and people that bought the old base packages still got to keep the resources that were removed. If so, would those go away once we return the package and buy the next level up? If so, does anyone know what resources were removed?

Maybe you could shoot an e-mail to a specific sales rep to help you out (cite the special "criteria" given to you). You've still have two weeks to take advantage of the offer so time shouldn't be an issue. If you send an e-mail now you could have everything set by Monday Bellingham time.

Thanks Paul i do have a rep I will check with. I may even call. i am seriously thinking about upgrading to the Platinum package. I have wanted the Greek NT Commentary for years and a few other products in the package may convince me. With the credit I would earn I could easily purchase the Baker set in the New year. This just seems to good to be true!

Now I am trying to figure out what benefit there is to this deal as compared with just buying via the "upgrade" button

It should be a good deal still. The "upgrade" button gives you no discount - for me it is simply the price difference between the two packages at retail cost. Since I didn't get a full 15% off my original package and subsequent upgrade, the new discount should be a good deal for me. Of course, I'm not too happy about losing the Today's New International Version in the process, if I'm figuring it correctly. But for a $25 resource that I don't use all that often, it's still worth it. (I've never opened the other resources I'll be losing).

Thanks Mark. It will take me 3 or 4 months of my "personal money" to pay off the purchase, but it was worth it IMO. With the 25% credit, it will make upgrading to Platinum much cheaper down the road. [:)]

I spoke with Jason from Sales this morning and I think I have decided to upgrade to Gold, add the NIVAC in and then after Christmas, using my Logos credit purchase the Interpretation Bible Commentary series. This way I get the NIGTC, NIVAC and Interpreters. Not a bad pastoral library!

Same here. It was a great deal. Platinum seemed less attractive after I had Pillar hence my decision to go Gold!
