One-Year Chronological Bible (NIV) Reading Plan

A group that I'm in will be reading the Tyndale 1-yr bible this year: http://www.tyndale.com/The-One-Year-Chronological-Bible-NIV/9780842350907

I want to read it in Logos, but setting up the reading plan looks to be pretty tough: http://wiki.logos.com/Reading_Plans#Steps_to_create_generate_a_customised_reading_plan_to_follow_M.e2.80.99Cheyne_precisely

Has anyone already created this plan?  I'd love to get the reading plan text that I can copy/paste.

P.S.  How do I get Logos to serve up certain sets of scriptures for a given day?  Since these are all of different length, my early tests aren't really successful--Logos Reading Plans don't allow hard-coded groups (i.e., Ge 10:1-5, 1 Chron 1:5-7, Ge 10:6-20, 1 Chron 1:8-16, Ge 10:21-11:26, 1 Chron 1:17-27; Job 1:1-3:26 .... where a comma might indicate all in the same group but a semicolon indicates a new day.

I haven't tried using reading plans, but I get the impression that you would waste far less time simply typing in the bible references each day than you would trying to set up a reading plan and getting it to synchronize on all of your devices.

Have a rest and enjoy Christmas.

I tried creating a Note, but many of the ranges didn't get automatically converted to hyperlinks--and I can't force them to open the NIV (ESV is my default Bible).

So I tried creating a Reading Plan--but since the ranges are complex, I decided to just create a reading plan for each month.

I used ";" to denote a different day [Logos converted those to ","] and "|" to denote chained readings for a single day.  The result looks like:

    Ge 1:1–3:24, 4:1–5:32 | 1 Ch 1:1–4 | Ge 6:1–22, 7:1–9:29, 10:1–5 | 1 Ch 1:5–7 | Ge 10:6–20 | 1 Ch 1:8–16 | Ge 10:21–11:26 | 1 Ch 1:17–27, Job 1:1–3:26, 4:1–7:21, 8:1–10:22, 11:1–14:22, 15:1–18:21, 19:1–21:34, 22:1–26:14, 27:1–29:25, 30:1–31:40, 32:1–34:37, 35:1–37:24, 38:1–39:30, 40:1–42:17, Ge 11:27–15:21, 16:1–18:33, 19:1–21:34 | Ge 25:12–18 | 1 Ch 1:28–31, Ge 22:1–24:67, 25:1–4 | 1 Ch 1:32–34 | Ge 25:5–6 | 1 Ch 1:34 | Ge 25:19–26 | Ge 25:7–11 | Ge 25:27–26:35, 27:1–28:9 | Ge 36:1–43 | 1 Ch 1:35–54, Ge 28:10–30:43, 31:1–32:32, 33:1–35:29 | 1 Ch 2:1–2, Ge 37:1–39:23, 40:1–41:57, 42:1–44:34, 45:1–46:9 | 1 Ch 5:1–6 | Ge 46:10–12 | 1 Ch 2:18–55, 4:1–23 | Ge 46:13 | 1 Ch 7:1–5 | Ge 46:14–18 | 1 Ch 7:30–40 | Ge 46:19–25 | 1 Ch 7:6–12 | Ge 46:26–47:12

I set it up like this:

The problem is that every time I press "Go!" to build the month, Logos crashes.

    What am I doing wrong?

I noticed that my range was a year instead of a month...but correcting that mistake doesn't fix the problem where Logos crashes each time I press "Go!"

I took out the pipes and substituted semi-colons:

    Ge 1:1–3:24, 4:1–5:32 ; 1 Ch 1:1–4 ; Ge 6:1–22, 7:1–9:29, 10:1–5 ; 1 Ch 1:5–7 ; Ge 10:6–20 ; 1 Ch 1:8–16 ; Ge 10:21–11:26 ; 1 Ch 1:17–27, Job 1:1–3:26, 4:1–7:21, 8:1–10:22, 11:1–14:22, 15:1–18:21, 19:1–21:34, 22:1–26:14, 27:1–29:25, 30:1–31:40, 32:1–34:37, 35:1–37:24, 38:1–39:30, 40:1–42:17, Ge 11:27–15:21, 16:1–18:33, 19:1–21:34 ; Ge 25:12–18 ; 1 Ch 1:28–31, Ge 22:1–24:67, 25:1–4 ; 1 Ch 1:32–34 ; Ge 25:5–6 ; 1 Ch 1:34 ; Ge 25:19–26 ; Ge 25:7–11 ; Ge 25:27–26:35, 27:1–28:9 ; Ge 36:1–43 ; 1 Ch 1:35–54, Ge 28:10–30:43, 31:1–32:32, 33:1–35:29 ; 1 Ch 2:1–2, Ge 37:1–39:23, 40:1–41:57, 42:1–44:34, 45:1–46:9 ; 1 Ch 5:1–6 ; Ge 46:10–12 ; 1 Ch 2:18–55, 4:1–23 ; Ge 46:13 ; 1 Ch 7:1–5 ; Ge 46:14–18 ; 1 Ch 7:30–40 ; Ge 46:19–25 ; 1 Ch 7:6–12 ; Ge 46:26–47:12

Logos built a reading plan from that--but the daily breaks only loosely follow the outline I wanted to achieve:

Is there some way to prevent Logos from being too smart in dividing up readings--I'd like to manually tell it what to have me read each day!

I know of two ways. The one is described in the wiki, involves tampering with the database and only recommended for those who know what they do.

The second one is building a PB, setting the dates as Heading styles in Word. Logos will use these when you create a Reading Plan out of this resource.

While considering tampering with the database, I had an epiphany--by keeping each month to a single reading plan and by jamming Logos' logic that optimizes readings, I can force the reading plan I want (almost).  It is "easy" (lots of typing), and I just insert a verse reference that is "out of place", and therefor acts as a firewall.  For example, Jan's reading now becomes:

    Ge 1:1–3:24, Jn 1:1, Ge 4:1–5:32 ; 1 Ch 1:1–4 ; Ge 6:1–22, Jn 1:1, Ge 7:1–9:29,
    Jn 1:1, Ge 10:1–5 ; 1 Ch 1:5–7 ; Ge 10:6–20 ; 1 Ch 1:8–16 ; Ge 10:21–11:26 ; 1
    Ch 1:17–27, Job 1:1–3:26, Jn 1:1, Job 4:1–7:21, Jn 1:1, Job 8:1–10:22, Jn 1:1, Job
    11:1–14:22, Jn 1:1, Job 15:1–18:21, Jn 1:1, Job 19:1–21:34, Jn 1:1, Job 22:1–26:14,
    Jn 1:1, Job 27:1–29:25, Jn 1:1, Job 30:1–31:40, Jn 1:1, Job 32:1–34:37, Jn 1:1,
    Job 35:1–37:24, Jn 1:1, Job 38:1–39:30, Jn 1:1, Job 40:1–42:17, Ge 11:27–15:21,
    Jn 1:1, Ge 16:1–18:33, Jn 1:1, Ge 19:1–21:34 ; Ge 25:12–18 ; 1 Ch 1:28–31, Ge
    22:1–24:67, Jn 1:1, Ge 25:1–4 ; 1 Ch 1:32–34 ; Ge 25:5–6 ; 1 Ch 1:34 ; Ge
    25:19–26 ; Ge 25:7–11 ; Ge 25:27–26:35, Jn 1:1, Ge 27:1–28:9 ; Ge 36:1–43 ; 1
    Ch 1:35–54, Ge 28:10–30:43, Jn 1:1, Ge 31:1–32:32, Jn 1:1, Ge 33:1–35:29 ; 1 Ch
    2:1–2, Ge 37:1–39:23, Jn 1:1, Ge 40:1–41:57, Jn 1:1, Ge 42:1–44:34, Jn 1:1, Ge 45:1–46:9
    ; 1 Ch 5:1–6 ; Ge 46:10–12 ; 1 Ch 2:18–55, 4:1–23 ; Ge 46:13 ; 1 Ch 7:1–5 ; Ge
    46:14–18 ; 1 Ch 7:30–40 ; Ge 46:19–25 ; 1 Ch 7:6–12 ; Ge 46:26–47:12

    And that builds out as:

Feb breaks a little funny, but is passable:

I wish Logos Reading Plans were more manipulable, but I can live with this.

I found out how to create a Custom Daily Reading Plan

I needed to create a LOGOS version of a well-known daily reading plan, matching each day’s reading assignment (ie NOT calculated by LOGOS).  Below I demonstrate how to create four passage lists: for 1) OT, 2)NT, 3)Psalms and 4) Proverbs.  Then I combine all lists in a single daily reading plan. Note:  This WILL load onto your iOS device!!

    see the detailed instructions here.....

If you are simply reading the text why not just get out your print Bible and read it and use Logos for more advanced study?
