BUG: Forum software duplicating posts under certain circumstances

I've seen several examples of this: the exact same post showing 2 or 3 times in a row.

This happened to me yesterday when submitting a post, and the software timed out, and reported so on the web page. I hit my browser's "Refresh" button and the post was duplicated. I suspect the same thing has happened with others.

I immediately deleted the duplicate post. Others haven't, maybe not knowing how, or not noticing what happened.

Thanks for reporting this. I was planning to, once I had finished something else. There has definitely been an abnormal number of duplicate and triplicate posts lately, and by people who wouldn't normally make such mistakes.

Did you use the Quick Reply? The only time it's happened to me (yesterday), was when I used the Quick Reply for the first time in quite a while.

I'm not sure I refreshed, but the popup didn't go away after I first tried to submit, and there was something else that misbehaved as well and made me assume nothing had happened.

No. I always use the regular reply, and try to quote something, so it's easy to tell whom I'm responding to.

It seems the forum software hangs and seems to do nothing. Refreshing, or trying again at that point seems to duplicate the post.
