4.5 Release Candidate 1 (4.50.0.1843) is available for download. An RC is considered a stable version.

To update to 4.5 RC 1, enter the Update Now command if you’ve switched to the beta channel before. If you currently have a stable version installed (such as 4.3 SR-8) and do not want to receive future beta updates, install from the download link on this thread. If you want to receive future beta updates, enter the Set Update Channel to Beta command to download RC 1.

Syncing seems faster. Thanks Tonya.

Forgive my ignorance, but another thread mentioned syncing of highlighting across devices (PC, iPad); has that been implemented?

Does the point two jump from 4.3 to 4.5 imply large or many changes?

The enhancements listed seem minor, at least for PC users: http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Release_Notes
 Am I missing something?

Hi Scott

Scott S:
Does the point two jump from 4.3 to 4.5 imply large or many changes?

Logos advised us of this "jump" some time ago - there was a "reason" given at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/36948/277418.aspx#277418 which may have been tongue-in-cheek!

Scott S:

The RC release notes just show the change from the last Beta. For a full idea of what is included have a look at the 4.5 Beta Release notes available at http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Beta_Release_Notes. You will see that in Beta 1 there was a lot of additional functionality / approach to the use of notes and highlights which is required for the new synching capability. These - and other things - have been added to during the Beta program.

Hope this helps

Graham

If I am not mistaken I think the advancements in 4.5 will lay the groundwork for the mobile highlighting features. I have not seen anything yet to indicate it has actually been implemented.

Bob's post on 6 Jan - http://community.logos.com/forums/p/5923/321264.aspx#321264 - said that sync for notes and highlighting will be included in Logos 4.5 and that the required version of the iPad app is already available in the app store and just waiting on the desktop end to be released.

So, I expect this to be made available when 4.5 Gold release is shipped or very shortly afterwards.

Graham

PS: Synchronisation of reading plans - according to Bob's same post - is probably going to be a few weeks later.

Now that 4.5 has a Release Candidate, Bob said in his post that if no major bugs are found 4.5 will go Gold within about a week...iOS will come a few days later. So we are very close. I think notes and highlighting will be on iOS before the end of the month (we can read and highlight all the books we use Christmas Credit to getWink)

Blessings!

It has been implemented for iOS devices, but it's not yet available to us. The new sync mechanism requires a new version of the iPhone app. That new version has been written, and will be made available in the App Store as soon as 4.5 is released: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/5923/321264.aspx#321264

Release Notes

Hi Tonya, I'm trying to document on the wiki this new command that was added: "Implemented new command to change the text size of old notes which used the default size set in Program Settings and have not been edited for size since the option was removed: Set Old Default Notes Text Size to x where x is the desired font size or ‘default’ to set notes to current default size."  In keeping with the other "Set" commands, I need to know what the acceptable inputs are for x besides 'default' -- is it a percentage or a number of points, and what is the allowable range? See, for example, "Set Default Text Size to {80%|90%|100%|110%|120%|140%|160%|200%|240%}"

Rosie Perera:

I need to know what the acceptable inputs are for x

It's a number of points (as a plain integer, no "pt" suffix). Valid values are from 8-24. You can test by trying to enter one and seeing if the command bar parses it as a "Tool" (works) or a "Search" (doesn't work).

Yes! I think Logos should never have put RC Release notes in that (non-beta) wiki without a full list of new features, fixes AND implications. This is a MAJOR release with serious implications for users' notes and highlighting so they should not be mislead; particularly if Logos intend to release it on the stable channel (because it is almost "Gold").
