Hideous Note Indicators

As I'm reading through a text, I don't necessarily want to come to a complete stop every time I get to a point where I have added a note, but the note indicators are so intrusive that I find it difficult to read past them. I could force myself to ignore them before 4.5, but it sure looks like they have increased in size with the update.
Is there a way to reduce the size of the note indicators? I know they can be removed altogether, but as far as I can tell, that means I can't hover to see the note. I'm just looking for something useful but less intrusive. Any ideas?

If you have used a highlighting style, you can select the white square with the red line through it. This will result in highlighting without a note indicator

Afraid that KS4J and Fred have missed your point here.
Agree that the note indicators are excessively large. Perhaps Logos could also give us a size option along with color and shape.

Robert, I noticed this, too when I added a highlight one time. It was a gigantic box. Deleted the highlight! It will help to see a few screenshots.

Personally I like the big, bold boxes. Have trained my mind to bypass them in my reading.
I don't know Logos' palettes well, but I do believe that you can create your very own note indicator, any size or shape or colour that you desire.

Personally wish for Note Indicator without black border around indicator so have option for light color that can blend with resource background.
Dreaming of superscript and subscript options for Note indicator placement, which would also shrink size.

I didn't mind the ones before this latest update, but they seem to have increased in size. I suppose that I will be able get used to them.

If you have "hideous", "intrusive", or "excessively large" note indicators [:)] in your resource text, please post a screenshot (so that we understand the problem). (There are many possible combinations of screen size, program scaling, panel font size, etc., so without a screenshot it's hard for us to know exactly what it looks like for you.)

I had to show the notes for this one since I long ago hid them. I think the underlining of a character (such as a verse number) in the color of one's choice would be sufficient.

They do seem larger than they did previously. I can live with this, but would prefer something a little smaller.

I too like the larger size because the old ones were too small for me.

As long as we are dreaming, I would like a note icon option to be a letter of the alphabet in which I could choose the size, color and placement (online, subscript or superscript).

I'd like to see the ability to change all the note indicators globally in a note file, instead of one at a time. Or am I missing that feature somehow? Now that we have more indicator options I'd like to be able to apply them to a whole note file at once. I've moused around trying to do this, but no success.

Bradley - I won't go so far as to say that the new note icons are hideous... but they are LARGE and somewhat obtrusive. Others have said that the change is good. It seems to me that the note icons were smaller and a little bit superscripted (or is that just what I want to remember [:P])

[Y] plus dreaming a bit more: wonder about using a highlighting style for a Note indicator along with letter option.

Yes, now dreaming bit more about little miniatures of style used (possibly more than one letter for indicator or use custom image):
fgh said:Sounds to me like what you really want is:
- the ability to see a coloured icon in the note file without any icon in the text,
- the ability to set a different note colour/indicator for each style in the palette, and
- 'inductive note indicators'; note indicators that look like little miniatures of the style used.
Given this you could then just use the existing 'Sort By Note Colour' feature.

I like having an indicator in the text. As others have said, I'm not entirely sure why Logos thinks that superscripts/subscripts (used for centuries) need to be improved upon, but I'm not really opposed to some sort of graphical indicator as exists now. My complaint is the size of the indicator and what that does to the readability of the text. I'm disappointed to learn from this thread that there is no way currently to alter the size of the indicator aside from turning them off completely. One can always hope for improvement in the next update.

I have this same problem. I found that if I changed the color, or the shape of the indicator, it would go back to normal. Not the most elegant solution, but the icons are not so intrusive that way. I also found that it was only one kind of icon that became large. I hope they resolve this in the next update.
