NEW VIDEO: Basic Sermon and Bible Study Layout for Logos Bible Software
I just uploaded a brand new training video for Logos. This video will show you how to create a Basic Layout using Logos Bible Software good for both personal Bible Study and for Sermon Preparation. I would love to hear your feedback both here and on my blog.

Hello Joe!
Thanks for the video. It is fantastic for people like me! I watched your others as well and honestly, I do find this one fits my purpose better, since I am not a pastor but do have a rather large women's ministry class where we study rather in depth...but not nearly to the depth of your previous videos!
I do have a question though. How come when I type Ephesians 1:1 to follow along with you, (I do side by side windows so I can see what you do and click along with you), mine opens my personal passage guide study and not my preferred bible like yours does. I searched my settings and don't see where I asked it to do that. Thanks again for doing this. It is a God send for those of us learning this powerful and wonderful tool!

Joe is using Logos on a Mac. Do you have Mac or Windows? That might make a difference.

Cynthia,
Make sure you're typing 'Ephesians 1:1' in the COMMAND box and not in the box on the HOME screen. The box on the HOME screen opens the passage guide.... The COMMAND box up at the top will open your preferred bible.

I am not totally sure I understand what is happening when you say a Personal Passage Guide, but Tom's answer above may be the key. Be sure you are using the Command Box. Also, type the whole phrase "Go To Eph 1:1" and that will get Logos to open your Bible.Cynthia in Florida said:I do have a question though. Thanks for the video, Joe. I added that layout to my other layouts. I find this one helpful for short devotional studies. I use MO's inductive Bible Study layouts for more indepth study. I also just received my free update from John Fallahee that teaches how to use the new 4.5 highlight/notes feature. I'm really looking forward to master that.
Cynthia in Florida? What part of Florida? I live in the Promise Land too (I mean Florida)...hehehe. Anyway, Tom's response might be helpful to you because I don't see why your "personal passage guide" doesn't follow along like Joe's does. Anyway, I hope you can figure it out.
You all have a blessed weekend!

Wiki has Mac and PC User Interface Differences => Screen layout that has command box circled in Mac and PC screen shots.
Tom's answer => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/44999/335420.aspx#335420 does illustrate Logos 4 Windows command box entry.

Hello DAL:
I am in east Florida, the Fort Lauderdale area. It is funny that you call it the "Promise Land" because to be honest with you, that is perception!!! To me, I actually LIKE the cold weather, skiing, etc., and so I find myself in Egypt here! LOL
We have a home in Tahoe that we go to twice a year, and when my husband retires in about 7 years or so, we will move there (at least...that's the plan). We both love to ski and we love the change of seasons. My husband is in the marine industry, and with Ft. Laud. being the yachting capital of the world...this is where our home is for now.
How about you? What part are you in?
BTW...I did notice when you all said something that Joe uses a Mac, so mine looks different. When I typed the go command in the box, it took me to the passage guide over and over, but then I noticed that Joe started with a BLANK screen initially, whereas I didn't. Once I cleared all the screens behind the Home Screen and then typed in the go command, it worked! I have owned this program for about a year and honestly, I am JUST now starting to understand it! What can I say, I'm a slow learner, but I can say that in the past few weeks, my learning has exploded because things are starting to click. And, the gentleman with the unofficial logos videos (whose voice I have come to love!) has saved my sanity more than once! Also, I have noticed this community to be, by far, the most supportive and encouraging community I have ever seen in an online community. I mostly read, read, and read for the past year, as I learn, but find that this place is now the first place I come to for resource info! Really fantastic!

You are almost certainly referring to the dulcet tones and vocal styling of the incomparable Mark Barnes in his amazing video series. [Y]

Understand; wiki has => Getting Started with Logos with many Tips and links, including excellent unofficial tutorials by Mark Barnes [*]

Thankful for many, many friendly forum discussions primarily focused on using Logos Bible Software. Personally I have learned a lot plus I have a lot to learn.
Logos has many awesome capabilities.

Hello Cynthia,
I'm in East Florida also. My wife and I live in Palm Beach Gardens. We love the cold too, but we prefer Florida's tropical whether. If we were to move, we'd probably go back to New Jersey or move down south to Argentina, where my wife's originally from. We have lived in Nebraska for about six months, but it wasn't our cup of tea.
By the way, if I had the Geico's lizard's voice, you would love my videos too...LOL...I say Geico's Lizard's voice because it has that British accent (or Australian kind of hard to tell)...But you are right, Mark's videos are awesome. I try to recommend those to my friends and the ones by John Fallahee.
Alright then, enjoy the weekend and Florida's whether during your stay here.
Blessings!
