Insufficient disk space warning but have plenty of disk space.
I'm trying to install on my wife's laptop and keep getting an "insufficient disk space, you must have at least 1gb free to index" and we've got twice that free....
Any good ideas?

Wonder about size of Logos 4 Resources folder ?
On my Windows 7 laptop running Logos 4.5a Beta 4, noticed overall Logos 4 folder size being about 50 % larger than Resources folder, which includes indexing.
To rebuild indexes, I need 1 to 2 GB more free.
Logos 4 indexing uses TEMP and TMP environment variable location. For indexing, could set TEMP and TMP environment variables to an external drive, Launch Logos 4 so indexer can run. After indexing complete, close Logos 4, and change TEMP and TMP environment variables.
Thread => It's become so sluggish! may be helpful.
On Windows 7, Start => Search Programs => Environment => Edit environment variables for your account

The indexer constantly monitors free disk space while it's running. What's likely to have happened is that the temporary files generated during indexing have used up all but 1GB of the disk. Since it's unknown exactly how much more free space will be needed to complete indexing, it aborts the process (to avoid completely filling your hard disk) and deletes the temporary files generated thus far, which immediately increases your free disk space to 2GB and confuses you. [:)]
You'll need enough room for the temporary indexing files (roughly 1/2 the combined size of all your resources) plus 1GB "breathing room".

Robert, I know you are not a beginning PC user, but have you deleted all but the most recent restore point? That may free up enough space.
Once indexing is completed, there probably is not enough free space to defrag the .idx file. It may be in 10,000 fragments. I've found Moving the file to external storage, then moving it back to the laptop, greatly reduces fragmentation.

It's no biggie...I just thought that having 6gb free would have done the trick ...that's all.

In this day and age, I would never consider 2gb to be "plenty" of free disk space for anything. Most laptops have an 80gb at a bare minimum, more like 250 or even 500gb is becoming standard. So to have only 2gb free is a really small percentage of your overall disk space. Everything is going to run very sluggishly. I feel claustrophobic when I have less than 25% of my hard disk space free. I want room for further growth in my installed programs and data, a good-sized swap file, temp files to accumulate for a while without me having to be constantly deleting them, not having to defrag the hard disk all the time, etc.

Unless it's a solid state drive, which never needs defragmented. In fact, it's a "bad idea" to do that. (I'm pretty sure Rosie knows this, but for anyone else...)

Depends on solid state disk (SSD) controller, wiki Mac Troubleshooting => Slow Performance includes:
- Solid State Disk Reconditioning - older Solid State Disks (SSD) may need periodic reconditioning (during searching, Logos 4 can create many small temp files)
