Community Pricing - multiple votes

Here is an idea for an enhancement to Community Pricing:

Make it possible to cast multiple votes - the idea being that a user can commit to paying 2 , 3 , 4 or more times the amount the vote is placed for. For example, with the current debate over the Revelation Classics Commentaries as an example, I could click on the $150 mark but have the option to have the $150 bid count as 3 $50 bids with the understanding that my vote counts as 3 $50 (or 5 $30) bids and when/if the item succeeds I pay $150 regardless of the final price.

I like this idea but, for whatever reason, it's hard enough to explain the community pricing program to newcomers as it is. Adding a, "But you can choose to pay more!" option is probably going to keep some people from using the program entirely due to its complexity.

Randal, that's an interesting idea, and it made me wonder about a different twist on the thought:

I wonder how much more quickly CP would go through if everybody paid what they bid. Rather than have everyone pay the lowest price that clears the bar, pay what you say you're willing to pay and accumulate the dollars all the way down. Maybe that's what you're saying, unless you want to actually have access to the resource 2, 3 or 4 times (e.g. to give away to other Logos users).

I'll bet Revelation would be pre-production by now if all the $160 bidders paid $160 and all the $50 bidders paid $50. Certainly it would be over the top if everybody paid what they bid.

It might be too complicated, but you could provide the option when bidding: 1) Pay what I bid, 2) Pay the lowest production price. Logos could use that information to figure out how close to production an item is.

They would have to implement some extra rules for people that choose (1), such as not being allowed to move your bid down once it crossed the threshold. It would be a firmer bid, but it would come with a strong desire/commitment to see that resource come through.

Option: create a second, third, or fourth Logos.com account, which could be used as a source for Logos resource transfers later (or start building Logos libraries for your children).
