So I used Logos 4 on my laptop and created Note Files for my bible study this morning that I would be able to read and refer to in my leading of Men's Bible Study.  

I wake up this morning and no notes.....not one.  Thankfully, my wife's iPod touch running iOS 4 had the note files so I could lead the study. 

I am hesitate to ever use this feature for leading a Bible Study again if the notes are unreliable.  I have voted to allow back up our notes on Evernote or a "send to Evernote" feature, which would be extremely helpful had I not had the iPod working.  

I hope I did not look too silly holding my iPod Touch and iPad.  Is there a way to get back my notes on the iPad?  Still not seeing them.

Jerry - you said that your wife's iPod touch had the notes, but you didn't mention if the notes were in Logos. Are they? What version(s) of the apps are you running? Have you tried killing the mobile app to force a sync?

Another question… have you ever had highlights on the iPad app? Were they syncing to your L4?

Notes where created in Logos 4 on laptop with highlight.  Both highlight and note were not there, and they have been there in the past, so I was pretty confident it would work.  The other notes in Logos 4 also do not show up on the iPad but do on the iPod Touch.

I edited the note on the iPod this morning, and have yet to see if it is on Logos 4 yet?

What is a force kill?  Just uninstall and reinstall?

Also, Note edited with iPod this morning at 6:00 eastern is not showing as edited to Logos 4. 

 

Also, not running any betas.

Jerry - 2.0.2 is just fine. That should work. What is your Logos 4 version number?

To "kill" the app means to truly close it. Apps in iOS don't actually close by default… they hibernate or run in the background. Sometimes the app can have glitches which prevent it from syncing. One of these is when you lose wifi connection and the app goes offline (you can check your homepage to see if it says "offline." Even if it doesn't say "offline," it is sometimes good to force a sync by restarting the app. Follow these steps:

  1. Close the app
  2. Double tap the center button on your iPad
  3. Press and hold the Logos icon in the multitask bar that appears
  4. Press the "close" badge on the wiggling Logos app icon
  5. Press the center button again (to stop the wiggles)

You can then open the app again. Take note of the sync wheel at the top. See if the notes appear. If they don't, let me know and we can trouble shoot some more.

Did that and still no notes.   I am unwilling to uninstall and reinstall because of all the books I have downloaded to the iPad.  

There was a box this morning on the iPad that said I needed to redownload some of my library.  My version number is 2.0.2.2368.

Two last thoughts:

  1. Have you checked the Vyrso app to see if the notes appear there?
  2. If the Vyrso app is a no go, could you provide a screen shot of the notes in L4 (both the resource & note file)?

So there are two problems: 1. Notes not showing up on Logos App  2. Notes not updating from iPod Touch

Jerry - When you say "Logos 4," do you mean on the computer or mobile device? As an FYI, the mobile app is just called the "Logos Mobile App" or "Logos for iOS." If the context is clear that you are speaking of the mobile app, you can even use "Logos." When you read or use "L4" or "Logos 4," it should always be reserved for your desktop app on Mac or PC. The mobile app is completely different. This will help us understand one another better. Smile

From an earlier comment you made, I am assuming that you have this resource downloaded. Have you tried deleting the resource? Try doing so, kill the app, (don't download the resource again just yet), and see what happens. 

How were these notes created? Were they typed from scratch, or was there any cut & paste involved? 

From your screen shots, I see that the file is "James Notes." I assume that this is not a "large" note file. Is that right? There have been issues with "large" note files, but this seems to be a different issue. Have you tried creating a new note file, adding some highlights and simple notes just to see if the sync works?

One more question… Do you have more than one computer with L4 installed? If so, is syncing working between the two? If you don't have two computers, can you use the command: sync now ? Does it look like the computer app is syncing?

Yes, when I have been saying Logos 4 I mean my laptop, and when talking about the app I have mentioned in as iPad or iPod respectively. 

I tried the above to no avail.   I have wondered if the iPod just is not syncing to the sever.  

The notes were a combo of cut and paste and typing.  The last note on verse 12 was all typed in through the iPod iOS 4 app, but not showing on laptop L4 or Vryso. 

James Notes files has 4 notes relatively small. 

I am just taking it as a warning of the precarious nature of the notes.

With the exception of the large note file issue (note files with hundreds of pages), I have found the sync has worked pretty well. My best guess is that there is something in the copy & paste which is giving the note file problems.

I said many things Smile Did you try creating a new note file & making some simple highlights? It would be good to know if your app is syncing at all. It would also be good to know if your computer is syncing to the Logos servers. 

Other than that, I am out of suggestions, sorry. Tongue Tied Perhaps you should call customer service when you get a chance.
