Palestine Geological & Topological Maps
This is just another info thread for anyone interested.
First if anyone's wanted free 50k topos for Palestine, these are back in the 1940s and in Russian. Didn't slow me down: free! http://sunsite.berkeley.edu:8085/israel/50k/israel50k.html
Geology-wise, out here in Arizona, everything is defined by 'water' and 'geology'. The Middle East is similar and for a long while I could not find a decent source (affordable, to the point) either in Logos or even the internet in general (most go 'deep' quickly).
But as luck would have it, Logos DOES have an atlas that does a little better job in this area: IVP New Bible Atlas. I've enclosed several samples for illustration. You can't buy the resource standalone (yet?) but it's part of IVP's Essential Reference Collection 3: http://www.logos.com/product/8588/the-essential-ivp-reference-collection-version-3
The book's 25+ years old (perspective, color styles, etc), but that was ok for me. And remember to shop around and compare prices for the collection. These are just samples; the Atlas has a bunch of unusual views not found in the other atlas or chart books.
On this one, notice the ratio of dew to rainfal (thus the OT's repetition of 'dew'):
This one below is the Dead Sea strata. What I didn't know (which it discusses) is the middle section was crossable prior the 1900s and thus the placement of Masada along the roman military road there going east.
