Erratic Scrolling

At times, scrolling is jerky and snaps back to where you just scrolled from or jumps ahead a whole page at a time which is annoying and a nuisance.  I read some time ago that setting the columns to "None" would help.

That does solve the problem but it creates a new one.  I set my column to "none" and it works fine for a while, but it does not stay selected.  The "none" option does not stay highlighted (none of the options are highlighted) and scrolling becomes erratic again.  I have to keep selecting the "none" option over and over.  I have tried to see if i could make it happen, but there is no sequence of events that consistently creates the erratic scrolling.  It just comes.Any Ideas?

thanks

Curious about resource(s) that have erratic scrolling ?  Logos 4 Mac version ?

Also wondering about highlighting and display settings ?

Likewise wonder about attaching a screenshot to illustrate when scrolling erratic OR create a video showing erratic behavior.

Thank you for the quick reply.

I am going to be away for the day so will work on these things when I get back.  I tried closing the highlighting window and that seems to help some.  But, will get back to this tomorrow.

    Thanks again,

The highlighting panel should be unrelated to this issue… The "some" relief is likely random. [:S]

Poor scrolling behavior is just part of Logos for Mac, it's horrible, but just falls under the category of : "it is what it is ".

So sorry to report this to you, I know it's frustrating. Turning off as many features and links as possible does indeed help some.

I never run more than the passage guide as default, when using other features, I use them one at a time, turning off other features, otherwise one does get very frustrated.

    Hope this helps.

    Blessings.

With columns set to None plus 7 Logos Greek Morphology visual filters enabled, opened ESV to Matthew 1, then used Magic Trackpad to quickly scroll down.  Sometimes the verse location jumped several chapters.  After 53 seconds, Acts 1 was displayed on screen so stopped scrolling motion on trackpad.  A minute later, ESV scrolling stopped:

Repeated ESV scrolling (wee bit quicker to Acts 1), then replied => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/47775/369695.aspx#369695 in Mac Beta forum since am using Logos 4.5c Beta 1 on Mac OS X 10.6.8

Ideally lines would scroll consistently plus stop scrolling soon after fingers stop moving on a Magic Trackpad.

Fwiw: You might try starting with a new blank layout, adding your Biblical Text-try scrolling.

Then add Passage guide, let it fill according to your base text-try scrolling.

Open commentaries and link to your Base text-test scrolling.

    So forth and so on.

At some point you will find what particular set-up is causing the scrolling issues to be so harsh.

    Blessings,

That did the trick.  I only have a few resources open but it seems to be much better.  Now I need to find the culprit.  Hope is  isnt a favorite.  I just opened the Accordance demo again and drool over the speed and smoothness, but I have way too much invested in Logos resources to switch now.  Hopefully this will isolate the problem in a workable way.

    Thanks everyone for the help.

Glad some of our suggestions helped.

Agreed Accordance super fast and smooth, no scrolling issues, no spinning balls, It just works.

Problem for me is resources, So I use Logos for resources, Accordance for heavy lifting work.

Wish I had Logos Library in Accordance software- Maybe they could start dating, get married!
