This is weird.

Normally, I'm a "shut off all bells and whistles" sort of guy on the computer...this has been the traditional way to keep things running fast....

Well, when the beta of V4 just got released, I started a new account; "beta testor" and installed there.

Not only did I keep all of the eye candy; transparency, sliding menus, stickynotes, and gadgets...I picked rotating wallpaper....everything....I figured that this wasn't my main install anyway and if it didn't work that what?

Well, to my surprise...everything is just as fast as my "stripped down for performance" logon...!

I don't get it. I'm doing without all of the cool extras to keep things fast....and this is just as fast and looks better!

Theoretically, this kind of thing should be a little worse peformance wise...but it's not.

Weird eh?

I didn't mind Vista but Windows 7 is great Smile

It manages to do all of the bells and whistles stuff with a much smaller footprint on the hard disk, and less drain on CPU and memory...
