4.0aB1 crashed when opening a resource.

I uninstalled, and reinstalled Sr7 - now it doesn't even run. SR7 crashes during startup and doesn't make it as far as showing the GUI.

Has anyone else solved this problem?

Thanks
Richard

Richard,

I solved it... kind of.

  1. Copy your resources to another directory.
  2. Uninstall Sr7 and prerequisites through the add remove programs applet in Windows.
  3. Then navigate to the install ation directory and remove absolutely everything.  Yes everything.
  4. Then install SR7, point it to scan the resources you copied earlier and let it index.
  5. Welcome back to SR7.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

It looks like there is a problem with shortcut icons, it's becoming a huge bug. This issue has been elevated and will be fixed asap.

OK thanks ... I'm having another go at reinstalling the beta, after saving the resources folder to another location. If that doesn't work, I'll try SR7 again.

Thomas - have you reverted to SR7 for the timebeing?

Thanks
Richard

Yes, until I can find a few uninterupted hours to get back into b1 (or b2 if it comes out soon.)

Thomas,

Like you, I have tried preserving the Data folders hoping to save on download time and indexing time as recommended by David and Matthew.  For me it does not work starting from SR7 (It start up properly, but crashed on Passage Guide, Search is wierd).  I have tried that on 3 VMs , Windows XP Pro, Windows 7, Windows 7(x64).  So, for each, I uninstalled from control panel and purge Logos4 folder, reinstall faithfully from Square one. All the platforms work.

With that i upgraded VM with Windows 7 to Beta1, all is well. No crash yet! This is my test VM, it is OK to crash

You can imagine how much time to do the installation + indexing; I really missed L3 with David's Backup/Restore!

Thanks for the update. I'll hold off till B2 assuming the bugs are fixed in it.

FYI B2 is much more stable.

Yes it is, I even installed it on top of SR7 without a problem this time.

I've got to say though, that I got used to having a weekly beta during the pre-release beta.

There are a number of issues with B2, so hopefully they are taking the time to correct them.

I have no doubt that bug squishing is first order of business Dave.
