Can anyone tell me how I get certain books to open in certain windows? For instance how do BDAG and my WBC open in a window and then Bibles in another and then NA27 in another etc etc? I would like them to automatically open when I do a search from the front page?
Is it possible to establish a common layout that automatically opens even if I do not wish to use the PG and EG? I would be talking about a layout similar to the one Mark uses in his video.
Thanks.
Right now resources open in panes that have similar resources. I don't know what the particular logic is. A while back Bob interacted with us in a thread about how we might want to tweak this behavior.
Right now the I would suggest you manually "seed" planes with resources you configured as you want them. Perhaps you could save a generic layout that would be the starting point of your studies. However, this behavior is all under-the-hood and you will just have to play around with it until you figure out a way to make it behave in an acceptable/predictable way.

How to ask for Help
Mark,
I don't believe that you can do what you're asking "from the front page" but you can do it with a layout.
Just open your preferred resources in their respective places, make sure you check the "send hyperlinks here" box so each time you click a hyperlink it will go to the proper resource; bible links to your bible, lexical stuff to BDAG etc...
If you search, then the found links will open in your bible that you've got open.
You can use this as your "default basic study" layout and save it...
If you close logos with this open, then it will open to it next time you launch...
I hope that this helped...here is a screen shot of my current layout.

It is irritating to me that when I put in a passage to study I have a half panel of the Bible passage with underneath that a half panel of my favorite commentary. I usually open up a couple of more commentaries, so I float the panel....here is the irritation...when I dock the commentary panel it does not go back to the half panel where I can still see the half Bible panel....it covers the entire Bible panel....

charles,
I'm not picturing what the issue is....can you take a screen shot?
How do you do a screen shot?,,,I cannot highlight the screen to copy it,
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Notice the middle panel in this first screen…half top is the Bible….bottom half is the commentary….
Notice in this second screen I have floated the commentary half panel….
Notice here in the last panel I have docked the commentary but it has covered my Bible panel….I would have like the docking to go back to the half panel and look like screen one….hope this is a better explanation.
Charles,
yes...that helps explain it.
The only thing that I can think of is this:
drag the panel back to where you want it.
Grab it by the tab and just put it back...it works....
Just for my own understanding....why do you want to float that panel in a layout and then put it back?
Now that's a good question....guess I just wanted it to look the same once I finished studying a passage....I usually just x out of Logos and bring it back up if I want another passage anyway.

Thought I'd look at this....I docked the panel back but cannot figure out where the tab is to drag it back...
I hope this explains it..
Now I see....got to put it back from the floating panel....do not dock it...
Now, I have to answer your question....Why do I want to put it back...ha!
And just to clarify...you can also put it in that blank space you see there in my screen shot too....
Thanks, that works neat too....had my version 4 software about a week, viewed all the videos (need to view them again) and need to keep working with it...I really love it and as a retired software developer myself, I know it will get better and better...I usually don't recommend going to new software too soon, but wanted this now, so it will just take patience to get use to it....Logos is great, have had version 3 for a long time...
Thank's guys...Gee these forums are handy! I like your layout Robert. It looks like a good use of space. What size screen are you using? I have a 22 inch at work and am contemplating another screen...we'll see!
The more I have thought about this, the more I have thought it would be really hand if we could open L4 to our preferred layout! For now I guess I will have to got through the arduous process of opening up Logos and then moving my mouse all the way over to the layouts section and then scrolling down to my preferred layout! Wow, there is 7.4 seconds of my day I will never get back!

this is on my laptop...17"
Also, shut down Logos with a certain layout active and (if you have "don't use homepage" set) it will open right where you left off...
