LinguaLinks Library

I know its nearing completion, but such a useful resource would be great to have out as soon as possible. Thanks Logos!

Well, I know it is SIL software, but what is its connection to Logos?

The content of LinguaLinks is soon to be released on Logos. It has been put in logos format, but publication details have not been hammered out yet.

I am still wondering what you mean. You mention Logos format, that is normally related to books, but I cannot see any pre-pubs of LinguaLinks. If it is some software functionality to be added to Logos, why Logos format is mentioned? Sorry for these stupid questions, but I just want to find out precisely ...

I've tried to find out as well. The library not the software is what the SIL pages refer to. But they also refer to Libronix i.e. L3 which make me think the web page hasn't been edited in a while.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I do have LinguaLinks in Logos already. It was made available to SIL staff about two years ago. Think of it as a third party collection of resources (SIL), that makes use of Libronix/Logos software. It contains about 270 resources. Below two screenshots to illustrate what type of resources are in this collection. I have no idea whether SIL will ever start selling this to non-SIL folks, or not.

thanks for solving this riddle

Ok, now it makes sense. I was working for SIL loong time ago and I actually tested their software in the 1990s, when the object oriented sw was new and worked very slowly. Nowadays when I build my Logos library, I add all SIL items, I think it supports the SIL case, as a kind of indirect donation. Thus I would be happy to buy also the LinguaLinks - I am not translating myself, but then in rare situations I might know how to help the translators.

Hi! I am a SIL member and have Logos on my Mac and have a LLL license. Could you let me know how to install LLL in my Logos program on Mac? Thanks!

If this comes out it would be a real scoop! I hope the price will be reasonable.

I ordered it right away, needed some work with registration and some hassle with my own typing errors, but an order is now confirmed.
I expect that something will happen at some time point, perhaps an automatic download or something coming by mail?

I believe it is by mail - 2 disks I read the wrong blurb

The product page says "product is downloaded from Logos.com with existing ID"

Has not downloaded yet. I ordered it 8 hours ago.
I might be the first one to test it. Let's see what happens.

I received an e-mail with instructions an hour ago: there is a requirement to join the Logos group SIL LinguaLinks Group. Then it started to download. [H]
I guess the instructions are sent during their working hours in the west coast after they have done the final work for the order at SIL. I made my order in the morning of the Finnish local time, thus the delay.
It downloaded 843 resources. It will take some time to go through that, but I am excited!.
Edit: All these resources are with temporary license. I assume it does not make much difference in practice.

I ordered it and have downloaded it from Logos, but now...
I'm not sure I understand how to access the resources of Lingualinks in Logos. I see they populate in the Logos library, but when I click certain works I only get an abstract...ie. Articulatory Phonetics by Anita C Bickford and Rick Floyd. There is a link of the title of this book at the bottom of the abstract but it doesn't open anything or go anywhere. I have a Logos 4 package but am running it on Logos 6 core. Any help?

Do you have a PDF viewer like Adobe or PDF-XChange installed? If so, then the link should open a PDF document just as MJ illustrated.
Some books are also available as full Logos Editions (e.g., Dooley and Levinsohn's Analyzing Discourse: A Manual of Basic Concepts). I hope many others, like Articulatory Phonetics, will get such treatment down the road!
