50 windows is an awful lot, if they are linked/synced am not surprised.
Perhaps you could close some? that would/should free up some memory and speed things up for you [:P]
I'm sure it's a coding issue...Bob and Dan will just have to jump on this first thing in the morning. And I claim my spot ahead of the avalanche of panicked Proclaim users. Church will have to be missed, I'm afraid...but it's certainly worth it!

No disrespect intended, but if its a coding issue, maybe its finally time to admit its time to upgrade to v5, or accept its quirks for what they are.. as its not like Logos are likely to stop development on v5 to fix libronix which albeit is a classic but sadly now 2 generations obsolete.
I can verify this problem. My perfectly fine HP laptop bought in 2003 runs XP fairly well. But if I use L3, somewhere about 50 windows open it crashes. I can't verify the exact number of windows, because they were stacked in too thick and deep to count. If this problem continues I will be left with no choice but to open fewer windows or stick with my new computer and L5.

It's funny...I was having a problem with L5 shutting down, so I called tech and they did their version of Go To My PC. The tech almost had a heart attack when he saw how many resources I have open...right now it's right at 50, about half of which are Bibles, plus about 5-10 searches, a couple of which are whole library searches. But the problem was a corrupt index...once it was deleted, she fired up just like she always does.
I tried opening 4,999 resources, and I was surprised when it crashed—unacceptable ! <Tongue firmly planted in cheek>

Go back to paper! I have no problem opening 4,999 resources on my floor simultaneously. Yes, I do have to cover the entire living room, kitchen, three bedrooms, two of my three bathrooms, and the stairs, but I've left a little path for myself so I can get around and compare things in different resources. It's really quite a cinch!

Where does he live? Is it cold there now?
I don't have 50 windows in my study, but if I did and I opened them all and it was winter I would freeze as well.
I suggest he waits till summer or move to Australia.
