I am building a personal book from a pdf file that I found of a book that I have in my print library. It has a large number of warnings but no errors. Should I be concerned with the warnings? What do the warnings mean?
Depends on what warnings you're getting.
Here's a page that describes what most of the common warnings mean and how to get rid of them. They are usually harmless, though.

I thought all PBs had to come from .docx files. Is .pdf a valid format now?
Hi Rick - and welcome to the forums
No, you can't create PBs directly from PDF documents, you still need .docx files.
i assume Michael was using a PDF document as the starting point for a .docx file which he then used to create a PB.
