Cited By Tool Behavior: A Feature By Design or a Bug?

I've noticed this since I had L4 and see this behavior in the current L5.
When I create one or more collections, these are selected by default in all my layouts that use the Cited By tool. I recall that, in the past, this behavior did not occur in an earlier version of L5 (sorry I don't recall which version).
Is this behavior by design? If so, what is the rationale? As my number of collections grow, and as I use more layouts with the Cited By tool, I end up spending more time unchecking new Collections in my layouts that use Cited By.
The Cited By is a great tool, but is also not scalable in terms of managing and organizing the growing number of Collections.

David, I don't remember it ever not working this way but I agree it is irritating and unwanted default behavior. If ever this habit was removed and restored I hope it was restored by accident. At any rate I would ask it be removed. No automatic adding of new collections, please.

I don't remember this not happening, but I gave up on this tool long ago because of its irritating interface. To me, it has always worked this way, and the selection box is far too small with super fast scrolling. This makes makes reordering resources an exercise in frustration.

I to have realized when I add a Collection it will drop it in my Cited By pane. I think it would be much more intuitive for users to have the default be NOT to automatically add a new Collection to the Cited By Tool.

I could be mistaken; I vaguely remember at one time creating a new Collection and not seeing it selected by default in one of my layouts. I thought Logos had changed the tool behavior back then.

Jack,
I totally agree with your statements. The Cite By tool has some major usability issues. Additional discussions about the tool were made back in November 2012.

I am able to reproduce this behavior and will send a case to Development for investigation.
EDIT: Upon further investigation, it appears that this has always been the way that the tool behaves. I have still submitted your suggestion for the change in behavior to Development.

Correct, this tool has been more irritating than helpful since its inception.
