Help not working

I have taken to reviewing the videos and realize that not everything is covered. So I pressed F1 for help to search out items such as how to enlarge a window, move it, or create collections and other items that are not discussed. When I first got L4, the help worked OK, but now each time I do a search on a item, L4 closes. Anyone experiencing the same problem. I am new at this forum stuff so I may not even be in the right category.

This question would probably go best in the Logos 4 forum, however, no worries.

First, while the help file is ok, it has some deficiencies. visit wiki.logos.com for a lot of helpful information in a format less transient than the forums.

Second, since you're experiencing a crash you'll want to post the crash log on the forum so either developers or some of the more computer minded people can help. Read this: http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging and then this on how to post logs http://wiki.logos.com/Uploading_Logs . I haven't had the problem that you have, but I'm certain someone will be able to help around here.

Hello William,

A 4.0a version of Help, which is not compatible with 4.0, was mistakenly published for download yesterday, and it downloaded to some computers before being pulled. Yours was probably one of those. The 4.0a update is due out soon (currently in beta testing). When the update is released and installed on your system, the problem will be resolved.

A 4.0a version of Help, which is not compatible with 4.0, was mistakenly published for download yesterday, and it downloaded to some computers before being pulled. Yours was probably one of those. The 4.0a update is due out soon (currently in beta testing). When the update is released and installed on your system, the problem will be resolved.

Others of us have experienced this, too, and I found a workaround to get you the old help file back until 4.0a ships. (Melissa, it would be good if you could add this to your standard reply: I see you've been answering this question a lot on the forum lately):

Close Logos
Open the folder where Logos4 resources are installed on your hard disk (substitute your actual username in for username; and random is a random bunch of letters & numbers but you'll find there's only one folder inside Logos4\Data and that is it):
In XP it's C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4\Data\random\ResourceManager\Resources.
In Vista it's C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\random\ResourceManager\Resources.
I'm not sure where it is in Win7. Anyone?
Delete the file logos4help.logos4
Open Logos again (perhaps to be sure it recognizes that the file is missing, close it again and open it one more time)
Now type update resources in the Command bar. Wait for a while as it checks all your licenses and compares what files you have to what is on the server and downloads any you are missing; it took around 30 minutes on my machine.
Close Logos and re-open it one more time (maybe two for good measure).
Help should be working fine now.
