Personal book file request

I'm working on measuring the performance of libraries that include a large number of personal books and would find it helpful to have some real world examples to work with. To aid in this, it would be great if any of you with personal books could email the .docx files to LogosBugs@logos.com with a subject line of "Example personal book". This will help me get a better feel for how personal books are actually being used out there in the wild. I'll post here again when we have enough. Thanks!

Thomas, how would you define a "large number" of personal books? Do you just want a sample or do you really want people to email their entire library of personal books?

Just a sample would be great (1-10 books probably). I want to get a feel for what types of resources people are creating with the Personal Book Builder (e.g. average size, number of cross-references, etc).

I assume you have grabbed the books in the Files forums

Files forums indeed. Sharables tend to be more 'spiffied up' as they move around in 'the wild'.
I was looking at mine which tends to be 3-5meg each. Only the WIKI was over 25meg.
While I was looking around, I notice a good part of my Logos resource directory has resources I no longer own. Probably getting a refund should be preceded by putting them in the Hidden box.

Do you want sample resources that users have converted from other formats, or just personal books which are, well, personal.

To save you time going through all the posts in the Files forums looking for Personal Books, an index of all of them (up through about a year ago when I last brought it up-to-date; plus some people have added their own PBs to the index when they've posted them since then) is available here: http://wiki.logos.com/User_Contributed_Personal_Books
That should give you plenty to work with, of all different sorts. Make sure you get some of the lectionaries MJ has been working on. She tends to push the limits of the software. Also I've got a partially completed edition of Martyrs Mirror, complete with lots of images in it, which I was working on until Logos announced it in pre-pub. Apart from being very large, there's nothing particularly special about this, though. But I can send you the work in progress if you'd like to see it.

One thing you would have to go back to L3 to find are all the timelines I'd made ... something I still want to do in L5. I have also just begun to transfer my harmonies into L5. I've not yet even seriously attempted getting my L3 templates into L5. There are also a number of resources that I've "given up" on for now because of formatting problems. Please don't mistake what we are doing for what we want to be doing. You really ought to ask for our problem children not our successes.[:)]

To get a good sample, you might want to ask the website admins about a list of which docx-files have been downloaded most.
That said, the one I personally am creating most often is linked here. I still use this file (the PB retitled to start with '00' after you silently changed the library sort order, formerly I used '##') as a workaround for the library's inability to open sorted by last update. I build it rather often and thus have it at the top in the title-sorted library and am automatically near the top in the re-sorted library. Due to this, it serves as a kind of regression test: building it is one of my first tasks when I installed a new version, thus finding out whether the update broke the PB builder.
Have joy in the Lord!

Thanks for the wiki link Rosie! I was not previously aware of that index. I think between that and the emails I've already received I'll have more than enough to run my tests. Many thanks everyone!

Thomas,
I'm so glad to hear you are working on this. I just sent you a 5000 page personal book to test with... the Liturgy of the Hours in Spanish!Hopefully it won't crash your servers... [8-|]

I am so happy Thomas for those signals of progress in the development of the Personal Books sharing system. It is a long awaited feature. Thank you for that.
