I have loaded L4 on my Mac and PC.  While the PC version has considerably more features, the Mac alpha is much faster (Perhaps because it doesn't have as many features?). The L4a on my PC has crashed a few times and it runs very slow. Even the start up takes time:  The splash screen appears on my PC and takes 30 sec. to load the Home Page (versus 8 sec. on Mac).

PC = Dell XPS DXC051 Intel Pentium D CPU 3.00GHz, 2.99GHz, 0.99GB RAM

My Guess: The fact that your CPU is a single core pentium and you only have a GB of RAM is affecting your performance.  All Intel Macs are at least Dual Core and typically (though not always) have at least 2 GB of Ram.--unless you have one of the first intel based Macs.

Roger Feenstra:
0.99GB RAM

The low RAM in your PC is the culprit. The most cost effective way to speed up a computer is to add more memory.

That is good news.  I will do it today.  Thanks for the help.

Just added 2GB of RAM and the speed is much better on the PC.  Thanks again.
