I would love to try this app out, but it crashes immediately upon trying to sign in on my Nexus 5. Has anyone else had a similar issue?

I am using a Dell Venue and have the same problem. Running Android 4.2.

HELLO? Anybody? Feedback? Support?

I uninstalled and reinstalled several times and even rebooted the tablet. Same result so far. I had the same problem with Noet at first and then one fine day, it started to work. But I remember posting about it and getting no answer either...

We are aware of the issue and are working on a fix.  Thanks for the report.

Which version of the app are you running - is it the one in the Google Play store or the beta version?

Robert C Cannata:

Google Play Store

Please try this - delete the app and then install the beta onto your device from here to see if the issue still occurs:  http://downloads.logos.com/Mobile/WordListFlashcards/beta/index.html .

Did not work as well. Get an error message after the sign in screen that says "Unfortunately Logos Flashcards has stopped"

I tried both the app from the Google store and the beta using the link above: same result. Crashes right away.

It would help if you reproduce the issue again and then press both volume buttons and the power button at the same time - this will generate a bug report on your Nexus 5.  Please send the bug report to kevin dot byford at logos dot com.

I was finally able to reproduce the issue - I'll write up a case.

I figured it out. Turns out when I bought the phone I had watched some optimization videos and had turned on the ART runtime instead of the default DALVIK runtime.

Setting the phone back to the DALVIK runtime resolved the error.

Okay - that's good.  We don't yet support the ART runtime.

I understand that ART isn't quite ready for primetime, but it is being included in stock KitKat and nothing prevents a user from switching over to it (no root necessary, etc.). I know that a small handful of apps had issues running under ART right at the beginning, but most of the popular ones have added compatibility since that time. I would encourage Logos to see what they can do to get things up and running under ART. It's pretty likely that the changeover is going to happen sooner or later, anyway.

Thanks!

Mike

We do intend to make sure our Reader apps work with ART but there is at least one issue that Google needs to fix (and publish) before that will happen: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=63929

As far as the Flashcard App goes, we're trying out a different method of development and the vendor of that platform doesn't yet fully support ART.

What Kevin said is true, but it's worth adding that ART is in "preview"/"experimental" release and only intended for use by developers (which is why it's found under "Developer Options"). So yes, you're right that nothing prevents a user from switching over, but Google (nor anyone else) is definitely not encouraging it. Smile

We are unable to reproduce this issue in house and are trying to find a way to get logs off your device.  Because it's running Android 4.2, apps like logcat won't work unless the device is rooted.  What is the exact make/model of your device?  I'm hoping there might be a Nexus-style button combination feature that will create a "bug report" that you can send us.

I forgot to ask - what language/locale are you using?
