Please tell us what resources are being removed..
couple times Logos 5 downloaded something and would not do any indexing..so I presumed it was removing a few resources..
But can you guys please also give us an update like the regular update on what resources were just removed please??
The other day I did a command "update resources" and it downloaded 35mb, but after that it didn't index at all.. and I was like .. What the heck just got removed???
thank you

I'm pretty sure no resources were being removed. Conceivably, certain functionality can be taken away (don't get me started on the L3 to L4 debacle), but I kinda doubt that is what is going on in this case either. Changes (i.e. updates) can be made to the program that aren't reductive yet still do not require indexing. In fact, if it is just a functionality change to the program, we shouldn't have need of an index update.

Mike, Logos does not remove resources you have purchased.
What often happens is that data is updated rather than resources.
You can discover what is updated by going to the Home Page in Logos. It keeps a record of recent updates, both resources and databases. (Be sure that you have checked Updated Resources on the Home Page setting panel so you'll see these.)
In Library you can see a list of your resources sorted by most recent update. Be sure you are in the line-by-line view (the one with labels across the top, called Detail View in 5.2a). Right click in the label area and be sure "Last Updated" is selected. Then click on that label to sort by the last updated field. You can do this after a download to see what resources may have been updated. Again, the Home Page should show you this as well.

Yes, when you returned a resource or something.. usually 2 days later Logos 5 program will download something and then will ask to restart the program.. BUT it wouldn't tell you what resources have been removed (updated)..
So I always assumed when it downloaded something and didn't index .. I pressumed Logos removed something.. because when Logos remove something.. Logos never gives any explanation on the front page..[^o)][^o)]

Ah...yes, if you ask they will remove something. You want confirmation? Why not just do a scan in your library? That's what I've done.

David,
Scanning the library would be time consuming.. specially when your library is in the 10k's+
What if a person decided to return his/her Portfolio? What if a person bought a collection, then decidedly to cancel it later?
Wouldn't it be nice to know what resources being removed? Specially, the other day for me when I didn't cancel anything but I was downloading something and there was no index and no update explanations at all.
I don't know if you ever cancel an order before, but if you did.. you would know what I mean..

Why? If you've returned something, presumably you know what you've returned. If not, just look at the product page for that resource.

Sounds like a coincidence. To the best of my knowledge, locked, like hidden, resources disappear at startup. The download and subsequent restart is most likely entirely unrelated.

A download without an indexing is either a program update or a database update. In both cases there will be a message on the home page, provided you have that option selected.
The update the other day was most likely the Help file. It was updated for everyone who installed 5.2a, due to all the changes in the Library.

Think about it: If something is DOWNLOADED, it isn't REMOVED, it is ADDED. When something is "removed," (I.e. Because you decided you no longer wanted the resource you purchased), there isn't a "download." [;)]

Sorry - basic question but do you have "Updated Resources" and "Release Notes" selected?

If you permanently enable logging we should be able to answer your question the next time you "update resources", otherwise we are guessing. Has the count of resources in your Library panel changed?

Hey dave,
If i can remember that was before i did the manual update dave.
Plus, 1 resource shouldn't take more than 3mb ain't it?

I have 390 resources that range from 3 to 213 MB! Don't forget to enable logging.

When datasets are updated, I don't ever recall indexing these. Logos does not index datasets, I don't think. Also, indexing is not needed when a newer version of Logos is installed. Database updates don't show up in the Library, but should show on the program's Home page, assuming the "Updated Resources" is checked for your Home layout.

The dataset or Logos Help file is "marked as installed" at the end of the "Preparing your library" stage, but the Indexer program will then notify you that it is indexing, check for resources that need to be indexed, and exits when none are found!
