In the recent discussion of whether to name the forthcoming Pentecostal/Charismatic base package Pentecostal or Charismatic, a Logos employee noted a preference for targeting base packages at specific named groups (e.g., Lutherans, Anglicans) and bundles/packages for theological currents. Might this project be better as a series of sized bundles?
James C., I would add to the list of authors, Gareth Reese, Don DeWelt, Donald Hunt, Moses Lard, R.C. Foster, Lewis Foster, Donald Nash, James D. Murch, Lynn Gardner, Kenny Boles, Carl Ketcherside.Add College Press and Standard Publishing (of which there are already several resources available) to publishing companies.
a preference for targeting base packages at specific named groups
Most members of these churches just go by the name "Christian." That would be a nondescript name for a base package. If these publications are only offered in add-ons, I doubt many would buy any of the current base packages. There is almost no doctrinal overlap between them.
Might this project be better as a series of sized bundles?
Perhaps, but I think a base package is more appropriate. I find a figure of 7 million restoration movement world-wide. But then again I'd prefer that the 7th Day Adventist package be Millerite.

At that rate, Eastern Catholics deserve their own base package. But I think you'd be good with that. (So would I.)
Absolutely, these would be great additions to this kind of base package.
Wait...I don't get it. Don't we already have a Reformation package? Do we need a Restoration package, too? Did the fix not fix what needed being fixed?
It seems particularly odd that the ways of YHWH are constantly in need of a handy man.
But then again I'd prefer that the 7th Day Adventist package be Millerite.
Minor problem: Miller did not accept the "New Light" of those that became the 7th Day Adventist Church.
But the idea has merit in that that would widen the package to other similar groups [churches].
As in how did the other Millerites differ from the early 7th Day Adventist Church.
The ways of YHWH do not need a handy man as they are set for all eternity. It is we, the creation of YHWH, that have some minor problems in finding the 'one and only true' path. That is why we are split some 40,009 ways.

I have just sent out an email to a few of these publishes. My hope is this might get the ball rolling. If others are interested in getting these resources published in Logos I would suggest you contact them as well.
While it is a daunting task to try coming up with a list of EVERYTHING I would like to see in such a package, here is my starter list, which is by no means complete. If Logos were to offer a package offering these resources, I would be VERY interested in it.
Apologetics Press Articles
Many of these articles are probably already available in the various publications put out by Apologetics Press that are also on this list.

Bob Winton Outlined Commentaries
Commentary set covering the Old and New Testaments. Unfortunately, I could not find direct contact information for Bob Winton, whom I **believe** self-publishes. The best I could do was find a link to a vendor. However, I **believe** the vendor's list of available volumes may not reflect all of Bob Winton's writings.

Christian Courier Articles
These are mostly (if not exclusively) written by Wayne Jackson and are available for free.

Gospel Advocate
Publishes a wide range of material affiliated with the churches of Christ, including a complete New Testament commentary set. Some of their material appears to be available in digital format already.

James Burton Coffman Commentaries
Commentary set on covering both the Old and New Testaments. As far as I know, these are currently available electronically in two formats. They can be viewed online for free one chapter at a time or they can be purchased for use with Theophilos. Looks like Abilene Christian University Press is the publisher.

Schertz Church of Christ Lectureship Books
The Schertz lectureship was previously known as the Denton Lectureship. This is important to know because the Schertz/Denton lectureship books work together to form a set. Each year the lectureship has focused on one or more specific books of the Bible. When the books are taken together, they essentially form a commentary set. I know that there is a CD available with these books in electronic form, but I do not know how far back they go.

Science Vs. Evolution (Vance Ferrell)
This is not affiliated with the churches of Christ as far as I know. It is just a resource that I have found to be helpful and that I included here because it is available online for free. It is actually an expanded version of another book by Vance Ferrell called The Evolution Cruncher (which is available for free in PDF from the same website).

Shenandoah Church of Christ Lectureship Books
These are available on CD in PDF form. I believe the electronic copies go back to 1987.

Spiritual Sword Lectureship Books (Getwell Church of Christ)
From what I can tell, these books are not available to the public in PDF form. I would **assume** they still exist in digital form somewhere, but I cannot confirm this, as I have not spoken to anyone at the Getwell Church of Christ about it. This is the same congregation that puts out the Spiritual Sword quarterlies (see below), and those are available on CD as PDFs. If the Spiritual Sword lectureship books are also in a digital format somewhere, they could potentially go back to 1976.

Think Magazine
Christian magazine the covers a wide range of topics. Issues are available to download, but they are not free.

TLC Publishing
Publisher dedicated to “Preserving Restoration Movement Materials.” In looking over the website, I found “125+ Debates in PDF.” I do not see any information about who owns the rights to this work, but that sounds like something that would be a welcome addition to Logos.

Commentary set covering both the Old and New Testaments. Published by Resource Publications.

A Christian evidences magazine by Apologetics Press for teens. There only appear to be two issues so far, but both are available online for free.

I have just sent out an email to a few of these publishes. My hope is this might get the ball rolling.
Good move. If you have specific contacts you might pass them on to Logos as well.
If I get any responses I will post them here. If I get any good leads who should I contact at Logos?
Some more scholars from the Restoration tradition that would be good to have in Logos.

James, thank you for starting this thread.
My church has a complete set of the Millennial Harbinger in their library, but I would prefer to see them in a Restoration Movement package.
Thanks everyone for these suggestions. We will look into how we can better serve our Restoration movement users. Pointing out specific publishers, authors, etc. definitely helps.
I think Gabe is the correct person to contact. [:D]
Gabe,
Please consider this "quick fix" for now. I think Logos would sell them like hot pancakes! [:P]

I certainly think that the journal Restoration Quarterly is worthy of consideration for inclusion within Logos. It has been published since 1957; I have been a subscriber for about 9 years or so. There are some articles posted online here: http://www.acu.edu/sponsored/restoration_quarterly/articles_online.html
The following is a list of some of the books that I am interested in setting in this package, etc.:
All commentaries by Jim McGuiggan. The publisher for at least one of the commentaries is Montex Publishing Company, Lubbock, TX 79407
A Commentary on Daniel by Homer Hailey. Nevada Publications, Las Vegas, Nevada.Hailey's Comments by Homer Hailey Nevada Publications, Las Vegas, NevadaHe also wrote a commentary on the Minor Prophets and Revelation that would be excellent. I would be interested in anything he wrote
Robert Harkrider has written several topical studies/workbooks:I Sought For a ManBuilding Strong HomesBasic Bible Doctrines 1, 2, 3, 4Also, he has written several textual studies (Commentary/workbook). IIP (Impressive Image Production) Robert Harkrider has the copyrights on these books.
Truth Commentaries published by Guardian of Truth Foundation
Instrumental Music in the Worship by M. C. Kurfees
Gospel Advocate Commentaries published by Gospel Advocate
New Testament History: Acts - Reese College Press
What the Bible Says series - College Press
More later
The New Testament Church by Roy E. Cogdill - The Gospel Guardian Company (This is the publisher that I have but it may be Guardian of Truth Foundation now)
The Acts of the Apostles from Jerusalem to Rome - Wayne Jackson - Courier Publications (As well as all books by him).
As mentioned in an earlier post, Burton Coffman Commentaries.
"The Gospel Plan of Salvation" by T. W. Brents
H. Leo Boles wrote a book on the work, etc. of the Holy Spirit published by the Gospel Advocate.
Is there any movement on this front? Does Logos have any plans to create a Restoration Movement Base Package? Thanks [:)]
I'd like to know too.
Me too.

I know there are others more qualified than myself who would love to point Logos in a certain direction as far as authors, publishers, and specific titles (though I’d gladly contribute to such lists as have already been started if it would help), but if commenting here adds fuel to the fire, then allow me to comment:
Logos/Faithlife, please consider either a Restoration Movement Base Package or at least a set of Bundles for that constituency.
Jay Guin, University Church of Christ, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, whose blog (oneinjesus.info) is high in traffic also has an “in” with Logos. They have provided him Base Packages and resources free of charge in exchange for review. According to this post just yesterday, he’s offered to help them “curate” a collection like we’re seeking, but without any result … yet.
I'd like to add my support for this idea. I'd be glad to suggest books as well, but it might be better if Logos could connect with some professors associated with each of the main branches of the movement for their suggestions.
Faithlife/Logos could even put the Restoration Movement Base Package on Pre-Pub to gauge the sincerity of all.
[Y] [Y]
Many restoration customers have probably resisted purchasing base packages. The existing packages contain too many books they are doctrinally in disagreement. A more focused base package for this market will draw customers who have resisted and remained sidelined.
Logos successfully tapped into the Seventh Day Adventists market by creating a tailored base package. A similar approach will help fuel Logo’s continued growth.
Straying only slightly from the larger topic of creating a base package, let me just express that not long ago I had an opportunity to speak in person with Kyle Butt from Apologetics Press. At the time he seemed very receptive to making AP's resources available in Logos regardless of whether they were part of a larger base package. If anyone on this forum has connections with anyone at AP, please encourage them to communicate with Faithlife regarding this possibility. They have a significant catalog of resources, many of which are already available as free PDFs. If all of their books, articles, and other publications were available in Logos, that could be a bundle in and of itself, not to mention it would likely encourage other publishers to consider making their materials available in Logos.
[Y]
I'm convinced that publishers are willing to work with Faithlife. The problem is Logos.
Dal sugested a Topical Bundle on another thread. This sugestion has also been ignored. Maybe another Bible software publisher will fill this void.
Happy Easter everyone. He has risen! 😄
I suspect that Gabe is simply over-worked rather than disinterested in a Restoration package. You might contact him (not badger him, please) to see what could be done to move this forward.
The point from Into Grace is good. But anyone familiar with the restoration publishers vs restoration groups knows there's going to be an issue with sales volume, if not narrowly grouped.
I know the forum is chock full of broad-minded readers, but the formula of new publishers >> collections is a whole lot easier to market. I'd even go so far as to market denomination-specific Logos editions.
Good point. Perhaps on vacation.

A topical bundles or prepub has been suggested. This would help Logos test this market. Thanks for your feedback. 😄
Bump.
I don't want this to get swept under the rug. Please Logos put together a restoration package or topical bundles. Please, please, please.
Friends, I was excited to see a Restoration Movement (Churches of Christ) resource added to Logos Pre-Pub this week, the Thomas B. Warren Collection.
I know we've voiced our desire to see more material of this sort in Logos. Now we need to show Faithlife/Logos that we were serious about wanting to purchase digital resources from the Churches of Christ / Restoration Movement, by agreeing to spend some $$$.
Thank you, Logos for adding these resources to Pre-Pub and letting us voice our support.
Just placed my order. Was incredibly shocked to see this (in a good way). Several of those were Spiritual Sword lectureship books once upon a time. Although many of the congregations that have lectureships make the lectureship books available via PDF on CD, the Getwell congregation did not do that with the Spiritual Sword books (although, oddly enough, the DO offer the Spiritual Sword periodical on PDF). This was a large step for some of their material to go from not being available at all to being available on Logos. Obviously these specific titles are all tied to Thomas Warren somehow, thus omitting the vast majority of the Spiritual Sword lectureship books. Is anyone on this forum in contact with anyone at Getwell? If so, can you point the elders toward this item and see if you can convince them to make the rest of the lectureship books available? Anyone?
Placed my order. Hope this is just a sample of what is to come. Thank you logos.
Would be curious to know what the circumstances were that Living Messages of the New Testament is included in that but not the Old Testament volume.
