I keep trying to post this and for some reason I get logged out of the forum and can no longer access Logos pages of any kind when I use the forum. I don't know what's up with that, but I'm trying again.

During WWDC Tim Cook announced that Mac user base had reached 80 million. The overall PC market is over 1 billion. Interestingly, Microsoft says it has a Windows Phone user base of 80 million and latest smartphone market is estimated to be over 1 billion as well. What's the difference. There is a full Logos Application for the Mac, which is aiming to be on par with the Windows application. Yet, to date we have heard that there isn't enough market share for a Windows Phone app. Or Windows 8 app to get more work. It would seem to me anyway that a Windows phone app isn't anywhere near as complex as producing an entire application for a Mac, and the Market percentage for Macs to PCs is on a scale of the Windows Phone market to the Android/iOS market. I like the idea of community pricing or Kick Starter. We might quibble over some of the facts, but there is a growing market for Windows Phone. Here's a link to a report on the 2013 smartphone market and it shows a growth for Windows Phone from 2014-2018 of over 29%, while iOS and Android are projected just over 10%. http://www.mobithinking.com/blog/handset-smartphone-sales-2013

    I agree with you that I would like a Win8 app. I am not using Win Phone 8, largely because my preferred carrier does not support it.

   In another thread about Bible translations, users were making a point about which English translation is most widely used. Bob stated (and I am paraphrasing), I am not as concerned with the most common translation as I am with the most common translation AMONGST LOGOS USERS. The 80 million/1 billion ratio may be true of general users, but is it true of Logos users?

    Bob acknowledged that it is a "chicken and egg" question - do we develop the platform to draw more users, or do we develop what our current users already prefer?

   I'm not trying to be argumentative, because I also would like a Win8 app with similar abilities as the iOS and Android apps. I just think a nuanced understanding of the statistics might relieve some anxiety.

One of my points though is that the amount of time and investment in producing a full application for Macs was done without the 10% market share that Bob has pointed to in postings on the Windows phone app. Putting together a Windows Phone app (and now with Microsoft working for universal scaling of Windows apps across devices including Windows 8 apps), would require much less of a commitment than it did for an entire application. In fact, Microsoft is offering incentives to developers to develop for it's platform. I'd think with it's close location to Redmond, they could work out something to get Windows Phone and Window 8 apps developed. 

I understand the idea of Logos users, but how does Logos determine what phones it users has? The 10% market share was given by Bob, yet it obviously wasn't a factor in developing a full blown Macintosh application, which was a much greater investment both in time, resources and money than a phone app or a Windows 8 app. I realize I can use the full blown Logos desktop application, but there are times where a more basic Windows 8 app with some basics like highlighting and notes would be great on a phone or even a laptop or pc. By the way, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 now have a total market share of 13.77% while MacOS is at 8.89%.
