Feedback: "More details about this resource" on webpage

I've noticed that some web pages no longer show all the info about the resource together. At the bottom of the page is a heading you have to click on to get further info. That loads another page, which then doesn't have all the info you had previously.

I don't know about others, but I find it much more helpful to be able to scan a single page to make a decision about buying the resource rather than load-and-switch-back-and-forth between multiple pages. My request would be not to go this direction.

How do others feel?

I'm pretty sure that the "More information" section, which is new and leads to our per-book overview pages, only reflects duplicate and other new information. As far as I know we have NOT removed any content from the original page.

We're still working on this, and at this page we'll eventually have a lot more book-specific info, including popular highlights from the book and more.

The main point of this is to enable you to drill down on a single book when it's part of a large collection. The main product page is about the collection, which could contain dozens of books; this lets you get more specifics about just one of those titles.

Eventually the link will be integrated better into the product page, not sitting alone at the bottom. We're in transition as we change the way product pages are assembled behind the scenes.

I've never understood why a "large collection" page don't have links to the existing, individual book pages. It sounds like you're saying you're sort of moving in that direction, but the links on a "large collection" page are not to the existing, individual book pages but to a different, individual book page.

Am I misunderstanding you? If not, what's wrong with the existing individual book pages as the targets of those links?

It makes good sense to link nested resources (collections/books that contain or are contained in other collections/books).

If you check the example the OP gave you will see a single book and the info is not displayed on the first page.

I understand big collections like the Zondervan Reference Bundles or the Eerdman's Bible Reference Bundle having this feature but not every product. The less clicking I have to do, the better.

Some collections have many volumes that aren't available separately, and don't have individual product pages to link to. (It seems like we're breaking more and more apart, and they do, but not all do or will.)

We're also not done with these pages -- when we are, I think you'll agree there will be info on the 'Overview' page that's more detailed and specific than you'd want on the 'product' page. Also, this will give a home for 'about this book' when the book is part of many collections, and/or part of collections but not sold separately, etc.

Nothing is fixed in stone though, and we'll keep listening to your feedback and tweaking things. Just please give us a little while to roll out what this is intended to be, then we can change it... :-)

I agree with Donnie! Collections that have been split up need to have links to the individual book pages. Usually the individual book page has the information I look for (including its price) and not the "more detail" page. Please consider this!

This is clearly an important scenario. If I were spec'ing this, I'd at least consider that such pages (books not separately purchase-able) be identical to product pages but without the "Add to cart" / "Quick buy" / "Add to favorites" options. That could end up making it more complex, so it's just a thought.

I suppose my main observation is that having to visit 2 pages to get all the available information on an individually purchase-able product, versus the current 1 page, seems like a regression. One man's opinion...

Actually it says "More details about this resource" and gives under a heading "Details" the exactly same information that is headed "Overview" on the product page. Logos may rightly call them "product overview" as that's what they seem to be..

Unlike anybody who complained about this in this thread, I have not identified any additional information on the new second page of the resource used as an example here (i.e. https://www.logos.com/resources/LLS_CRTDWORSHIP/created-for-worship - I'll call it resource page below, since that's what is is, look art the URL). Check for yourselves and compare the product page (i.e. https://www.logos.com/product/9125/created-for-worship-from-genesis-to-revelation-to-you - I'll call it SKU page, since that's what it is. We buy SKUs [Logos selling units that may change over time and may consist of one or more actual resources] but we actually get resources) - the second page/resource page is neither overview nor further detail, but actually misses many information (such as the actual technical product details like number of pages and the author info, probably also the endorsements) and has one relevant functionality less (See Inside). It looks like someone got the assignment of creating an alternative view of a product page with much less info and more whitespace, and it looks rather beta to me.

The only additional thing is one confusing "functionality" more (rating/reviewing a collection where this resource is part of - this came probably unintended from filling a box with some existing top box elements - please discard it!).

This is consistent with every single book where I followed the link to "more details" - in fact, there are no more details (at least for now) and having this link on a single book product page is not helpful, but misleading and annoying - less so for allegedly showing information that is not on the product page, but for promising more details that just aren't there. There's no need for a respource page if the SKU has all details Logos provides us with. On the other hand, many users would like to see more details we currently have to wait for, such as resource type and the indexes and datatypes that are embedded in the resource.

The situation is of course different with resources that are part of multi-resource products (such as books from a not-split-up collection) - there we currently miss out on many pieces of information details not available on the SKU's product page.

I support the idea of not using this alternative display for this, but let the SKU page / product page look exacty like the resource page in case of one resource SKU's and let the resource pages of multi-resource-SKUs look exactly like product pages without the price and the buy buttons (giving you the lot of whitespace you maybe liked to have - or place for a prominent link to the collection this resource is part of or the textbox "we don't currently sell this resource").

If you really intend to go with the alternative display for resource pages, please bring the See Inside functionality which has often been requested for resources locked in collections.
