I've mentioned these before, but they bear mentioning again.
I'd really like to see the works of
Robert Alter, such as
James Kugel
as well as
And of course, a continuing plug for Carta resources.
Nice list, Ben. I especially would order most of the 'as well as' group.
The Akkadian companion and Chicago Assyrian volumes would SURE be great. I'm no smarty, but I run into Akkadian comparisons quite a bit. I'll probably get lectured by George on 'etymological' equivalance.
I would buy all of these if they came to Logos. I just created a suggestion post listing all the Carta resources I would like to see in Logos. It is quite long. I could buy some Carta books in Accordance, but I'd prefer to buy them in Logos.
I would love to see a Robert Alter collection, featuring all of his books.
I want the books from Robert Alter.
Yes, the Akkadian stuff would be great, would be a leg up over competitors, and thereby attract a new scholarly contingent.
Edit: I found lots of links to the CAD in The Amarna Letters, the Anchor Bible Dictionary, Pritchard's ANET, Context of Scripture, theJPS Torah Commentary volumes... all over the place. Seems like it would be a useful addition, if the licensing and price could be set right.
I was using some of these today, and wanted to bump the list.
Now bumping the list because I would also like to see the Yale language series in Logos.
This is not part of the Zondervan collection, and I would like to see it--I wonder if it is comparable to the Greek one by Sakae Kubo.
T. A. Armstrong, D. L. Busby and C. F. Carr, A Reader's Hebrew-English Lexicon of the Old Testament. (Zondervan, 1989).
I could buy more, but atleast I would buy the akkadian stuff, readings in hebrew and first three books by Alter.
I'm quite excited for TDOT. So it's time to get these!! Plugging again.
It's been about a year. Time to bump these again and stir up some interest.
And wow! Akkadian Lexical Companion for Biblical Hebrew Etymological, Semantic and Idiomatic Equivalence With Supplement on Biblical Aramaic must be out of print, because the price has skyrocketed!
My recurring plug for the Akkadian lexical matierals. Also, the Akkadian Lexical Companion for Biblical HEbrew is now relatively cheap, $28 hardcover from Amazon. They must have hit another printing.
I'm screaming at myself, "FOCUS! Focus on what you do well, and not on what you'd like to claim you can do well somewhere in the future."
Still, I'd probably consider getting the Akkadian Lexical Companion if it were available. [:P]
Bump.
Bump
Five years on, and none of these. I'd still love to see the CAD and the Akkadian Lexical Companion.
[Y] for the Akkadian Lexical Companion.
Bump on these. Robert Alter is "planned" at this point, whatever that means. But I was reminded today of Kugel and these others.
Bumping a year later. Kugel's been requested for at least 8 years...
