Possible fix for running 32-bit 5.2b

If you've tried to install 64-bit 5.3 side-by-side with 32-bit 5.2b on the same machine, you've probably found that installing 5.3 breaks your 5.2b installation (e.g., http://community.logos.com/forums/t/88363.aspx).

If you're in this situation, there's a workaround you can try. Please install the "vcredist_x86.exe" Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679

Please let us know if that works (or doesn't work) for you.

I haven't powered down yet but I've switched users multiple times and have 64-bit Logos 5.3 running under one user and 32-bit Verbum 5.2 running under another user. So far so good ... I've not made either crash.

    Bradley,

It works in Windows 7 where I had the 2010 Redistributable!

I had the problem initially in Windows 8 where I have the 2010 & 2013 Redistributables, but I had since upgraded 5.2b to 5.3.

I note we had a case of missing dll's about a year ago & you stated that Logos used the 2012 Redistributable, but it was never installed onto my machines and my Windows 8 Tablet doesn't have any C++ Redistributables, yet runs v 5.2b!

With this current patch I hope to be able to run Verbum 5.2b SR-1 account 1 >1,100 books and Logos 5.3 Beta 3 64-bit account 2 not that many books, on the same Windows user account (admin). HP EliteBook, four threads, Win 8.1 Swedish 64-bit, 4 GB RAM but will upgrade to 8 GB as soon as I afford, HDD 2.5", 1280*800 pixel monitor. Do I need to install all the most recent Windows update patches (besides the security patches which I always install about every other week)?
