I have always used the copy and paste facility in logos 5 to copy scripture into my sermon notes, however, I don't seem to be able to do that with Logos 6. I have called up the copy window and my templates are there but the 'copy' and 'copy and paste' buttons don't do anything. They come up as just plain text. I have several Christmas sermons to prepare so could do with resolving this asap.

I see that you are on a Mac, but what word processor are you using? Pages? There is an issue with the Copy And Paste with Pages, but the Copy button does work for me (in conjunction with Cmd-V in Pages).

The Copy and Paste button does work with Textedit for me (in both Rich Text and Plain Text modes).

Thanks Integ. I have just tried clicking on the copy button and it does work. I think that because it wasn't a different colour I assumed that it wasn't working as copy and paste doesn't. Thanks again. Tim

Glad to help, Tim, and welcome to the forums. I've noticed that some of the buttons in Logos 6 are unclear visually when they are selected.

I was typing this up when you replied back. You don't need it, but I'll post it anyway.

There is also a completely different way of copying and pasting Bible verses on the Mac. Logos has a "Replace with Passage" service that allows you to select a reference in your word processor and then press a keyboard shortcut. Then the reference is replaced with the passage using whatever template you have active in the Copy Bible Verses panel.

To use it, open up the System Preferences on your Mac, and click on the "Keyboard" preferences. Find the "Replace With Passage" service under "Shortcuts." Make sure it is checked and note the shortcut (you can change it if you want).

Now, in your word processor, type a reference, like matt 1:20-23, select it, and press the keyboard shortcut Shift-Command E. It should replace the reference with the passage.

If it doesn't work, it's usually because the reference has a character that it shouldn't, like a period, e.g., matt 1:20-23.

Hi Integ,

Thank you ... that's a really useful feature.

I also noticed that for whatever reason it won't work if the reference is part of a bulleted or numbered list.

Have you had any trouble with the formatting? if I copy and paste using the Copy Paste Verse Tool from Logos directly, the format matches my document; but if I use command shift E, it copies with a different font than my document despite the "%ForEachVerseStyle=MyWordStyle" command I put into the Logos formatting.

This is an old thread and is unlikely to be followed other than by those who check up on these threads.

It would be better to start a new thread, give it a meaningful title and state your question clearly.

It would also help if you included your Platform and OS details in the post and in this case which word processor you are using.

Right, the reference has to be only the Bible book, chapter, and verse numbers—no other letters or characters (including bullet marks) or it won't work.

I don't use Word (I use Pages), so I can't help with the other issue—suggest that you start a new thread as Mike suggested.

I can't use the cmmd shit E in pages, it says: The service could not be used because the application did not provide valid data. Try using the service differently, or contact the vendor for an updated version of “(null).”
