I'm having a consistent intermittent bug in selecting text with either mouse or touchpad, but only in Logos & only since installing Logos 6.0b 6.0.2.0042.
There are several scenarios, as I try to read & highlight:
After highlighting text formatted normally (most repeatable scenario):
Before highlighting text (intermittently repeatable--depending on resource?):
I've been working in NICOT's Ezekiel 1-24.
I've waited a day to report, hoping it'd go away or that I'd see it reported elsewhere in the forum. Not so (on a casual search for "bug text selection"). Is anyone else having text selection problems?

I can't reproduce and I don't have that book. Is Smart Text Selection ON or OFF?

BillS: After highlighting text formatted normally (most repeatable scenario): While text is still selected AFTER highlighting it, press shift key down to extend the text selection. Left click further on in the resource. Quite often, instead of extending the text, it uses what SHOULD be the end as the start of a new text selection, which ends off the screen (and page), much further in the resource than should be possible to select.
Two things to consider that might explain what you are seeing: selections have start and end and shift-click moves the end.
What this means in practice...
If you were to place your mouse after "might" in the following sentence and drag the mouse to the start of "example" your selection would be:
"Here is an [end]example text that might[start] appear in your resource."
Then shift-clicking after "resource" would change your selection's end to be:
"Here is an example text that might[start] appear in your resource[end]."
In other words, it is important the direction that the selection is made as to what would be the expected result of a shift-click operation.

I have the same problem (I think it started with the latest release - I am on the Beta channel). Smart Text Selection in OFF in my case.
EDIT: It does the same in any resource - not resource specific bug.

Thanks, but I'm always selecting left to right, top to down. The results are not expected. And unexpected selection results are so far limited either to the Logos app or to this resource within the Logos app. (I'm on study leave & am attempting a book study of Ezekiel within Logos. Working 12-14hr/day & have limited time to test, but it seemed important to see if there was a quick fix.)
Based on Bohuslav's input in this thread, I no longer believe I'm the only one.
BillS:consistent intermittent bug
That seems like an oxymoron. :-)

No, it is not. It is consistent in repeating itself again and again but intermittent because it is not always the case. It is possible sometimes to select text properly.

LOL, Rosie. But Bohuslav is correct in why I used those words.
If I can find a repro case, I'm sure I can supply a fix in an upcoming beta but so far I've been unsuccessful. Could one of you who are experiencing this post a screencast to visually demonstrate what you are doing/seeing? That might provide me the piece of information that I'm missing. Thanks.

I'm willing... how?
There are a lot of tools out there (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_screencasting_software), but I've had good luck with Jing (http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html).

I noticed the same thing last night while working on a custom reading plan. I was using Both Grudem's Systematic Theology and Henry's God, Revelation, and Authority.
As you experiences, it was intermittent, but repeatable.
I was excited to try it out because it was in response to an early bug report I made that they fixed the highlight jumping up a line or so. That part seems (mostly) fixed, but this new behavior was weird.
My thanks to the various MVPs. Without them Logos would have died early. They were the only real help available.
Faithlife Corp. owes the MVPs free resources for life.

Thanks. I don't know why that text of mine posted in such a huge font. I certainly didn't mean to come across like I was shouting. I posted it from my phone and had to do some manual manipulation to quote only a portion of your message and not the whole thing (due to a bug in the mobile browser or in the forum software when rendered on a mobile browser).

BTW, this brings back memories of trying to track down a bug in the selection highlighting code in Word where you'd click and drag the mouse all over the place, back and forth around the [start] anchor, and the [start] anchor would jump around to a new place. Yeah, I worked on that code, so I have empathy for whoever will need to fix this bug once a reproducible case of it can be tracked down. I have not been able to reproduce it in just a minute or so of playing around but will keep an eye open for it.
Sorry for the delay... was teaching officer training, today, & couldn't get to it until class was done. Here's a link to a video:
http://screencast.com/t/JhQ3kGu3et
The problem manifested on my 1st attempt to create the video. (No need for a retake. That's how repeatable it is on my system.)
I'm having the same problem since upgrading as well. Very frustrating as I try to highlight one sentence and then it wants to highlight the following 3 paragraphs. In the following screenshot (I think anyone can access it??) I was attempting to highlight "show his stuff" and it jumped to "There is" and highlighted to the end of the section (of which my cursor was nowhere near). Screenshot is at http://gyazo.com/29438d460258aee02f0d61d33003ee83
Thank you, Bill. That is very helpful to get the privilege to "watch over your shoulder" as you demonstrate the problem you are seeing.
I'm curious if it has something to do with the linked panels or possibly some visual filter combination as these things stand out to me as different from the setup I was using.
When I get back to the office on Monday, I will try to reproduce your environment more closely to see if I can get the bug to occur.
I'm having same problem and it is driving me nuts as it essentially makes it impossible to control what is being copied as it takes in many verses and even whole paragraphs. I had this problem when 6 came out, but it seemed that if I pressed alt key at same time, the highlighting was controlled. Now nothing controls it. This is obviously a very significant bug since most of us use the product to prepare lessons and sermons and if you can't copy correctly then you are in a world of hurt.
It doesn't take any controlled test to find, just try to highlight any verse or section in the middle of a paragraph and you will get it.

Kevin, this seems to be perhaps a combination of the bug that Bill has been dealing with (where the anchor of the selection jumps around) and the undesired effect of having "Smart Selection" turned on (a new feature in Logos 6 where Logos expands the selection to the full unit it's enclosed in (word, sentence, paragraph) as you drag the selection larger). Nobody seems to like this new feature, so I recommend turning it off. I don't know why it's on by design. It's pretty annoying. Anyway, you can turn it off in Tools > Program Settings.
