Can anybody advise whether Logos have a UK based rep or offer Logos training in the UK?  Are there many other UK based users?  Is there much of a market in the UK?

I don't think there is a UK-based rep. After 1 o'clock in the afternoon you can call the American team on a discounted UK number. When I was at college only last year a number of the students had logos. Personally I find it very useful and use it every day.

Not as far as I know. Many years ago, first Hodder & Stoughton and then Sunrise Software acted as resellers. Before Logos 4 and the demise of CD/DVD based software Logos took all its sales in-house, I think.

Rayner:
Logos training in the UK?

Morris Proctor training has run at least one series of courses here in Britain.

Rayner:
Are there many other UK based users?

Yes, a lot. Indeed, there are several of us, I've lost count of how many, UK-based Logos MVPs.

Rayner:

I think there probably is a reasonable market, but only Logos could answer that for sure.

Every blessing

Not a paid one (as far as I know) but there are MVP's resident running the early morning shift on the forums.

Rayner:

A universal 'No' as in the Star Trek understanding of the universe.

Rayner:

Quite a few.

About 64 million individuals (Logos is an individual purchase (many of the 64 million need to here some 'Good News' hence they are only potential purchasers.

Oh, I'm not worried about getting in touch with Logos.  I usually use their online chat facility or just call on Skype late at night.  I was just pondering about connecting with others and also wondering whether there are links with seminaries / theological or bible colleges?

Would it be worth putting together a Faithlife group?  They don't seem to take off without quite a bit of love and attention, but wonder whether it would offer any advantage and whether UK based users have different publication requirements?

Don't know anyone down that way. I'm central. I guess any of the colleges with a strong biblical studies department is going to have users. I think a few years ago it felt like some key uk scholars were under represented in the logos ecosystem and we still have some notable exceptions but they are plugging the gaps fast. How do you feel about it? I think some good uk journals are missing from the new master bundle.

I confess that I've not searched for all UK biblical scholars so I'm going to reserve judgement on that question.  However, on the issue of journals, I feel quite strongly that there is an Evangelical bias which would be balanced by a broader UK focus.

Not having Alistair McGrath's introduction to theology is a bit of a daft one if they want to appeal to first year students in the uk. Bosch transforming mission too. At least we have got NT Wright

Hear! Hear!

Expository Times would be a good journal for them to start with.

I'm in the South East (Basingstoke area) and they were advertising a few months ago for a UK Manager based in Bellingham, but I don't know if they ever appointed anyone.

I know that at least one college is working to strengthen links with Logos but don't know if that is part of a strategy or a faculty member who is keen on the product. Having said that, my experience has been that most scholars I come across have bought the line that Logos isn't a product they could use: when I ask them more they will say that it can't do this or that, and when I show them that it can they are surprised, so I think there is a great deal of ignorance among academics about Logos, and Logos/FL probably has a marketing task here (although a lot of academics seem to have bought into A-product - or BW for the diehards - and closed their minds to any others).

Almost everyone I come across in the academic world is also completely ignorant of the Logos Academic Discount programme, and you never seem to hear it mentioned among students. I only found out about it from the Forums, and am making the most of my final year of Academic discount this year!

Personally am in the East (Suffolk/Essex border) of England. Also keen to link up in any ways possible to share needs, experience, expertise, advice etc.

Would a UK based User Group be possible. Even meeting occasionally.

Also Faithlife input into this subject would be good - i.e. how do they see the UK market and what information could they share about it and their relationships with it.

Shalom

Possibly, but we could try to figure out which users are UK based first.

Would others on this thread join a UK users Faithlife group if I set it up?

For me to spend the time it would have to have a clear reason for existing and that would not be to duplicate the use and features of the forums.

It would not be a vehicle for folk to paste their latest pet quote or bible verse with a fancy background.

Actually I am struggling to think what it would be for?

Possible uses could be:

1.  Planning meetings for training / sharing of info on how to use the software
2.  Discussing whether UK authors/publishers/resources are adequately provided for by Faithlife
3.  Thinking through ideas for introducing Logos to users in UK churches

Ok, I've set up a Faithlife group.  If you're interested in considering any of the topics I mentioned above, or want to be social and connect with other users from the UK, feel free to join here:

https://faithlife.com/uk-logos-verbum-users/activity

I don't anticipate it being a high traffic group, but Logos is a great platform for connecting people with academic interests who may otherwise be isolated in churches or outside of traditional academic settings and some people might think it worth being in touch.
