  • Bug reading plan dates don't update properly

I've noticed this bug for a VERY long time, but finally decided to write. I often leave Logos open from day-to-day and when I do this, the dates in the reading plan do not update. For example, if I have not closed my logos since yesterday, then the reading plan will have "today's" reading marked as "tomorrow" and so forth. The only way for these to

  • How to back up documents

I've been creating Notes files and Passage Lists for years in Logos. Can anyone tell me how to create regular backups of these files? I'm starting to feel anxious about possibly losing years of Bible study and research if I don't have an adequate backup somewhere.

  • How to best format a custom Bible in Personal Books.

Hi all, I am an international worker among an unreached people group that only recently received the Bible in its own language. I have the text of the Bible by individual Bible book in PDF formats and I am copying those into MS Word so that I can make a personal book fully functional as a Bible in Logos. I have a couple of questions regarding work-flow

  • Re: making personal books searchable

Mark, may I ask a follow-up question? I was experimenting with personal books in the first place not primarily to put my sermons in Logos but for my notes. I'm still working on the long arduous task of moving note files from my old Bible Works program over to Logos. I am using Logos' notes capability for this. In addition, I've already added a fairly

  • Re: making personal books searchable

Mark! Yay! I got it to work. The problem was that in my custom passage guide, I had defined my collection "sermons" as a "commentary" section. For the benefit of others who may also get confused on this point... you have to be careful that when you customize your passage guide, even though you may put a "collection" from your library into the guide

  • Re: making personal books searchable

I don't understand, Mark. I don't see a "collections" section of the passage guide. Let's say the personal book is simply a sermon that includes several Bible references. One of the references is 1 Chronicles 17:2. All I did was a very basic Personal Book with no milestones, but Logos automatically recognizes the bible references, correct? If I do a

  • making personal books searchable

I have tried to find this answer on the forums and also on the wiki and I'm having trouble locating it. I have made some personal books and yet when I search in the Passage guide for a bible reference that I know is in the personal book, it still doesn't show up in the search results. Can anyone tell me why this is so? Do I have to put milestones in

OK, I'm repairing permissions now and will also follow up with tech support if I still encounter problems. I'll give it a month and see if there is any improvement. If so, I will report back to this thread. Believe me, I want to like Logos and to recommend Logos. It's just that I had such high hopes that all my Logos woes would be solved when I bought

I should add also, that sometimes Logos just hangs up when I go to close it. The computer hasn't been in sleep and there is no apparent action that I do that causes it. I just notice that many times when I go to shut down my computer, either Logos won't close, or if I just hit "shut down" with a bunch of apps open, the computer will tell me that Logos

Hi KS4J, Sorry, I can't figure out how to put quotes in my reply, but I want to reply to your questions about usage. Yes, I like to leave Logos open (so I don't have to wait for it to load each time I need it) when I leave the computer or close the lid. And yes, it is often then that Logos hangs. I've also noticed it hanging it up when installing new

As the guy that started this thread, I'm delighted that the issue is getting some attention, which was my purpose in the first place. I have a MB Air (mid 2012) 1.8ghz with 4GB of Ram and Apple's stock SSD. However, I would just like to point out that my beef is not necessarily slow performance. It is the fact that the program hangs up ALL the time

I understand that the mac software programmers are probably very nice people doing the best they can. I just finally decided to post not to make people feel bad, but just to add my voice to what appears to be many mac users unsatisfied with Logos' mac version. Like I said before, the company needs to hear this and develop a plan to improve the software

First of all, I can see from the number of your posts that you are not the type of user who minds investing time into thinking about and dealing with the software itself. I think I am a more typical user in that I want to spend my time doing Bible study and reading books on Logos. My post was general because its purpose was not to diagnose the multiple

  • I'm sorry to say it, but extremely disappointed in Logos software

OK, after years of owning and using Logos software, I am completely exasperated. This software has never worked well, and of all the software I have ever bought, it is by far the most expensive, the most problematic, and the most disappointing. I have a brand new MacBook Air 1.8GHZ that should be plenty powerful to run Logos with no problem. The software

  • L5 hangs when shutting down

Hi, Whenever I quit Logos (and this happened consistently with version 4 and now also with version 5) the program hangs up. I get the dialog that says "Please wait while your documents and settings are uploaded." But inevitably this dialog never completes. The SBOD just goes round and round and the application becomes unresponsive. Clicking on "exit

OK, full disclosure will really get you guys drooling. I have a sis-in-law who works for Apple corporate so I can get a 15% family discount on any new product. That helps a bit. As far as upgrading my current machine you guys have convinced me that is not a good idea. Especially since I also need to disclose that my current MB has a serious display

yeah, I already thought of doing the RAM upgrade through a third party. Basically when I start looking at SSDs I just keep thinking... these things are great, but the price is still too cutting edge. I'm thinking that I may need to just get the mini with a 7200rpm drive, and then when SSDs come down in price in 3 to 5 years, I can upgrade it. That's

thanks everyone for the advice. KS4J, I'm a bit flabbergasted that I had to hear on a forum that I could get the L5 engine for free. Why is it that I was never informed of that by the L4 home screen? I thought you had to buy an upgrade. As far as purchase of a new computer, here is my quandry. I am not pleased with the lack of upgradability in Apple

  • best Mac hardware configuration for running L4Mac

Hi all, I've browsed the forum on this question and what I've found has been outdated information. If someone can point me to a more recent thread, I would appreciate it. I have been running L4Mac on my Core2Duo with 2GB of RAM and a standard 5200rpm HD. I am *not* pleased with the performance. It is slow and a chore to use. I want to upgrade, but I
