  • Re: Anchor Yale Bible hyperlinks to Bible text

When I hover over a Bible reference in the commentary portion of the AYBC, I want to see the AYBC translation of the verse. That does not appear to be possible. I'm guessing the Bible translation portion of the data is not tagged verse by verse, so the footnote is the first data point that is tagged with the verse reference. The next best approach would

  • Re: Anchor Yale Bible hyperlinks to Bible text

I moved the ESV to higher spot in the prioritization, and now I see the ESV when I hover. But this just begs the question: Is the AY Bible a Bible or a commentary ? I thought it was both, so I put it at the top of the prioritization precisely so I could see its rendition of the text when I hover on references. I guess that won't work.

  • Anchor Yale Bible hyperlinks to Bible text

All of the scripture references in the commentary of the Anchor Yale Bible point to the footnotes for the text rather than the Bible text itself. Whenever I hover over a text reference to see what the referenced passage says, I see only the footnote commentary on the verse and not the verse itself. Is this by design? If so, I don't find it useful. Is

  • Re: Timeline and the Kings of Israel and Judah

GaoLu, That is helpful, and it will be useful as I teach through the rest of Kings and Chronicles. But I don't understand why a similar layout cannot be achieved with the Timeline tool. This seems like the kind of thing the timeline was built to handle, but it doesn't.

I'm finding it impossible to set the timeline up so that I can see a succession of kings of Israel and Judah clearly. Am I missing something?

I just discovered days ago that I could drag a saved layout to the toolbar at the top and create a shortcut to it there. Maybe that will give the easy access you're looking for.

  • Re: Highlighting Palettes and Duplicate Highlighting Styles

Reuben, I use the New Inductive Study Series by Precept Ministries for my inductive study guides. Each book in this series has a set of recommended key words for study, which get augmented along the way for particular chapters where a word is a key word for just a chapter or two but not throughout the whole book. When I do now is set up a new palette

  • Re: Keeping Notes in Order other than Date Created

What I was missing is that I need to open the sidebar of the notes view and change from Filter to Notebooks, then select the notebook with my notes on the life of Christ outside the gospels. Only then is the option to sort "by Notebook" available, which preserves the order I put them originally and lets me re-order them as I see fit. This has also revealed

  • Keeping Notes in Order other than Date Created

In Logos 7 I made a notebook called "The Life of Christ outside the Gospels," and in it I had a note for each major event in the life of Christ that is described in the New Testament from Romans through Revelation. The same event could be described in multiple places, so within each note there were multiple verse references. I had arranged the notes

  • Highlighting Palettes and Duplicate Highlighting Styles

In the past the recommended method of doing inductive Bible study highlighting was to create a separate highlighting palette for every Bible book and tie each one to a separate notebook. Now it seems that the separate notebook for each palette is no longer recommended. (I noticed all my palettes have had their affiliations with notebooks removed by

I ran Windows diagnostics on both the memory and the drive, and no errors were reported with either one. I don't know what to try next to find the problem, but at least if it happens while I work in Logos, I will have the log file to check.

I ran Windows diagnostics on both memory and the solid state drive. Both reported no errors at all. Yet something causes my system to lock up suddenly and without warning every once in a while. I'm not sure what to do next, but if it happens while I'm working in Logos, at least I'll have the log file to check.

I suspect there is a bad "sector" on the hard drive. I put sector in quotation marks because it is a solid state drive, and I don't know if it is physically organized at all like a magnetic disk drive. I have an app to monitor the health of the drive, and it reports everything is okay, but every once in a while the system locks up for no apparent reason

  • System locks up on Bible Word Study

Last night I encountered a series of steps that consistently caused my PC to freeze and become completely unresponsive to any mouse movement or key press. I had to use the power button to cycle the power every time I tried the following steps. 1. Open Logos 8. 2. Use the main topic launcher to start a guide on Deacons. 3. Clicked on the word "Deacon

  • Re: Morph or Syntax Search? Looking for "noun and noun and noun" in Hebrew

Thanks! I was hoping the list might include some list of predicate nominatives like Genesis 1:2 to bolster my opinion that all three nouns "formless and void and darkness" related directly to the earth, and thus it is the earth rather than darkness per se that is on the face of the deep. But no such luck. I guess my theory remains grammatically unsubstantiated

The advent of a web-based and subscription-based package that is apparently getting the lion's share of development effort is a frustration for us who have invested year over year (or every few

That's excellent. It returned exactly the results I was looking for. Not to be greedy, but I wonder if it is possible to find words that have Masoretic punctuation. I'm looking for cases when a zeqeph qaton appears over the medial noun. I can identify them by sight, but would be terrific if I could filter the results accordingly. And can I just say

  • Morph or Syntax Search? Looking for "noun and noun and noun" in Hebrew

I want to find all instances in the Hebrew scriptures where three nouns are listed in a row, preferably with "and" (the vav) in front of the second two nouns. Ideally, these would be predicate nominatives. What is the best way to find these verses?

  • Let me buy a Logos book for my pastor

I'd love to be able to "gift" books from the Logos offerings to any of the ministers at my church who use Logos study software. I don't know of any way to buy a book from you and have it download to someone else's account. I'd like to buy some N. T. Wright books that I already own for myself and add them to my pastor's Logos library. Can this be done
