  • Re: Prepostion use

Michael, The Preposition Use in the BWS guide is tool that visually shows how the lemma in questions is used with various prepositions. For example, when I perform a BWS on λόγος I notice that in the NT λόγος is used with: ἐπὶ (G, D) ἐν ἀπὸ ἐκ περὶ (G) διὰ κατὰ (A) μετὰ (A) εἰς The letters beside the prepositions above indicate the case in which λόγος

[quote user="SHotchkiss"] I see a large number of pre-pubs from this publisher and some interesting titles. I see that some are shown as being in German. Are they typically translated to English? Does this publisher, as some do, have a particular leaning? The discounts from original print pricing is great but the books are still expensive; why is that

[quote user="Michael"] Based on Best Commentaries I have Exodus, Ezekiel, Ecclesiastes, and 2 Peter/Jude in my cart. Any other volumes highly recommended? I'm having a tough time finding reviews that go through each book. I have NICOT/NICNT, NAC, Pillars, NIGTC, and the Tyndale set if that matters. Some of the BECNT and WBC volumes are also on my radar

[quote user="Steve Farson"] Can mention I have both versions of Fee's 1 Corinthians NICNT. I've compared both versions extensively because of a 1st Corinthians class I had last autumn. There is little that is different. A word here and there, slight expansion here and there. I wasn't impressed with the diffs. I wouldn't say the older version is better

  • Re: What commentary is a good straight through read?

NB, Thanks for the question regarding Spicq. This is a technical commentary, filled with Hebrew, Greek, and German. It is not for the faint of heart, but like anything difficult the payoff is great! As to your second question, I unfortunately do not have an answer to that right now. I will see what I can find out. While I rarely read a commentary from cover to cover, I can say the the following were some of the ones I found to be quite enjoyable: George Guthrie, Hebrews (NIVAC) : In my opinion this is the best commentary in the whole series. It is the perfect blend of scholarly and practical, and it more like a monograph and less like a commentary. Gordon Fee

  • Re: Help this languishing (great) Resource!

While I find Gary's word of caution to be wise a one we should certainly heed, we must also be careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water. The same caution can also be raised in regards to Kittel's TDNT. James Barr's scathing critique against the linguistics of TDNT is enough to cause us to chuck Kittel as well—if we follow the same logic

  • Bug: Continous downloading of New Resource

I ordered a resource last night (Dale Allison's ICC on James). The download initiated but it continues to loop through without ever finishing. It will quickly get to 100% only to start over again and repeat the same thing. Eventually it will just stop without downloading the resource. Every time I start Logos this happens.

This book serves as a bridge between Ancient Authors (Hellenistic, Jewish, and Greco-Roman) and the New Testament. It seems ideal for Logos' indexing. Publisher
