  • Re: July has finally come!

Everyone wants something for nothing. I would like all the free books I missed prior to having Logos but I doubt that it will happen.

  • Re: Dr. John Phillips would be welcome

I would likely use them more in sermon prep if they were digital. What I do not care for in the JP commentaries is the same problem I find with many other commentaries, they tell you what the motives and thoughts of the Biblical Characters are even though the Scripture does not and they add to the narrative in what seems an attempt to make it more dramatic

Has anyone purchased the Puritan Hard Drive? Has it proved to be of value? If so, how?

I have John Phillips commentary series in book form (New Testament) and I can say that I am not impressed. ($175 two years ago) I rarely use them.

[quote user="Paul Golder"] Some of the current run of Nook HD's are two updates behind from new. When you first connected to the internet it should have wanted to update, and sometime after that update is complete (it took mine about 30 minutes), and you are signed into your B&N account, it should update again and then have the Play Store available

  • No Google Play

I received a Nook 10 inch, 32GB for father's day and it does not have a Google Play app. When I try to load the Logos app I receive an error. Being technologically challenged this is no surprise, is there a way to fix my issues.

  • Re: Reformed Theology-predestination

Thank you I do want to explore this further. Being in a somewhat anti-Calvin, though not fully arminian school, I would like to see some more well thought out viewpoints.

Thank you for the perspectives. I am currently diving into Spurgeon's Sermons. He certainly had a lot to say on the issue and you have to love his passion. Though I have found that unlike Spurgeon, who was a calvanist and very evangelistic calling sinners to repent and put their faith in Christ, many modern calvanist say the reason they don't is because

  • Reformed Theology-predestination

After reading R.C. Sproul, the question came up, If God knew you before the foundation of the Earth, and therefore the place of your eternal destiny was settled before time began, how is your decision to accept Christ really your decision? It cannot be settled then and both not be settled at the same time. My head started to hurt and I quit reading

  • Re: Logos for Nook HD and HD+; It works!!

I think I'll go with the Kindle Fire from Amazon, it runs on a customized Android OS and is about the same price as the Nook.

I understand, we thought we were seeing daylight when our oldest left the house and we only had six kids at home, but she came back and brought a husband and two little ones. Add to this, my father-in-law now lives with us and 13 has become the magic number.

I do not find most bundled packs very practical for what I need. However, this is one I can use and the price is good for me. https://www.logos.com/product/32816/zondervan-textbook-bundle

Check your windows update history. Windows will update automatically by default. I would try to do a restore, this will not affect you files just the system files and if that does not fix it you can re update windows.

  • Re: Justifying the expense

Since I cannot take a library with me as I work for a railroad and travel constantly, I guess I will buy the digital books I can (the ones Logos carries). I may also buy a Kindle fire to get the ones Logos does not carry. Amazon provides digital books of most books I need. I am trying to finish my degree which is mostly online and I serve as a Bi-vocational

  • Re: Justifying the expense

Thanks all- the question was, Do I buy the books in the digital format -Logos- that I already have in paper form thus duplicating the expense? One example would be Grudem's Systematic Theology, a book I still have a need for.
