Thank you, Mark. I just figured it out. The resources didn't automatically download to the computer. I didn't realize it, because about 300 MB of stuff DID download, so I assumed that the books were there. Once I downloaded them, they prioritized quickly and correctly. Should have caught that much quicker - the old brain isn't what it used to be. Thanks

I bought a bunch of books from the NAC series through the "Top Commentaries" sale. Today I was trying to prioritize them as a series, and it wouldn't work. I could drag individual resources into the "Prefer These Resources," and only that resource would be prioritized there. I would right click on a resource, choose "Prioritize this series," and the

Sean, I've been recommending on these forums that people forget about Logos and use Google to search for Bible verses for years. The problem is, in Logos, you have to know what type of search you want to do (like a "fuzzy" search) and different ways to insert the search perimeters, etc. If I'm using my Logos library to search a variety of different

Interesting. Download and indexing went faster than I thought it would, also. As far as using the program, I know others have said it for a long time, but I'm finding L8 to be faster in everything, from opening to use. My big hope is that it doesn't develop problems when it has to be disconnected from the internet for periods of time.

While setting up Logos 8, I have noticed that some of the things I want it to do are already set. I began to suspect that Logos had saved my my previous preferences online. Sure enough, when I went to set up my preferences, my old preferences were all right there, already set. Which was nice, as it would have taken some time to remember and reconfigure

Nevermind... Just clicked on that little doohickey button, and like magic, there it is, English text only. Have a great day.

Okay, I suspect I'll be back here a few times in the next few days, asking what will probably be some pretty basic questions. I replaced my computer, so I'm now on Logos 8, and working on setting it up for use. Too many things I should be able to figure out easily, that my brain won't grab a clue with... So, the simplest of questions: I haven't been

I understand that the Logos Notes function is getting much better. That said, for me personally, I'd recommend either Evernote or OneNote. Evernote is good, and as others have said, you can scan/take phone pictures of them, and Evernote will store the images, and the text in the pictures will be completely searchable. However, I believe that with OneNote

Interesting. I assumed that copyright had expired, since there are so many copies of Tozer's works published by different people.
-
It is disappointing but sometimes the publisher restrictions make it difficult if not impossible. Perhaps someday it will be in Logos.
I don't think that would be the issue any more. Tozer's been gone for a long time, and I think several publishers are printing his main works now. His stuff may well be public domain

Something about looking back 2000 years makes it easy to forget that then, like today, people used words in slightly different ways.
Remember that the grammar is descriptive i.e. it is a description of what grammarians see as the use in the language. That doesn't mean that an individual author always exhibits that use. The grammarians offer positive evidence not a declaration on its "truth".
What an absolutely great reminder.

I don't think it is that the commentaries explain the passages you mention as negatives, when they really are positive. I think that the actual passages mean them in the negative way. And, I would submit that the passages are often written that way, not to be more emphatic, but to be more precise. Sometimes stating a negative means something different

In a setting such as this forum, you are most likely to get answers based on preference, as few of us have been part of objective studies. However, there have now been numerous studies done on retention with regards to paper vs plastic (electronic). People in the field of learning/memory almost universally say the debate is over regarding which reading
P.S. Al Het: GREAT POST!
Thanks, Cynthia. I appreciate hearing back that my comments made some sense. By the end of writing them, I wasn't sure if I was being clear at all.

Bob, I tried to give a quick read-through of the other responses, so my response might not be too redundant. I would affirm what many people have said. Your customers appreciate the ability of giving you direct input. However, I suspect that there are several who feel like I do, that the direction you are taking the company just happens to be different

After commenting in another thread about books in Amazon, it made me wonder how, or if, others are using Logos for illustrations. I know many pastors use Google as their primary source for illustrations, but I know there have to be lots of us left who keep and use personal illustrations. I have never taken to Logos Notes, but it sounds like it is getting

No one addressed your question about Prime, which is different than Kindle Unlimited. It is true that they offer a ton of free books with Prime, though I'm sure not as many as Unlimited. I've never looked for the Christian titles that might be available, and haven't ever used the free books anyway, as I just buy the books I'm interested in. However

Another vote for Blomberg's "Interpreting The Parables." It really is a hallmark work on how to interpret the parables. He gives a simple framework on how to understand several different styles of parables. His work was ground-breaking, with what was a whole new paradigm at the time, some 25 years ago. It received extremely high praise by scholars.
A computer program that spits out results that are dependent upon what the user owns, is not a useful reference to the reader unless they have the same software and same resources.
This is a great point, and something I never really thought through, when it comes to modern scholarship and the use of modern Bible software
