Currently indexing. And my other wine program still works. Many thanks! For the record, I copied the individual files from /LogosBible_Linux_P_old/.../Data/random_string/ResourceManager/Resources to /.logos-data/Data/random_string/ResourceManager/Resources after Logos installed and before I clicked OK on the window inviting me to download all the resources

Thanks Rik, I'll give that a try. Stable sounds nice. Q: I have a folder of resources in /home/username/LogosBible_Linux_P_old/data/wine64_bottle/drive_c/users/username/Local Settings/Application Data/Logos/Data/random_string/ResourceManager/Resources. Can they be copied to /.logos-data? If so, at what level of the folder tree should I copy them over

Question: is there a way to use different versions of Wine for different programs? A few weeks ago Logos stopped working for me, and the advice here (after a failed attempt to do an 'update') was to do a complete install using Wine 7. I also use PDFXChange Editor in Wine. I have only gotten it to work using PlayonLinux; settings show that it uses the

Thanks for that, Frank. I used ./Logos.sh winetricks to set LogosIndexer.exe to Vista (just winecfg opened a config window, but there was no LogosIndexer.exe in Applications, just Default Settings [set to Windows 7]), ran ./Logos.sh indexing ("indexing of LogosBible run done!"), and finally ran ./Logos.sh, but it crashed at the "Preparing..." screen

Funny, I was able to open BDAG as well -- before I tried to upgrade. I had it as a 'favourite' icon in the top bar, and I clicked it and the Atlas icon I have up there and they both opened (I was also able to open the Atlas from the Tools menu, as I mentioned earlier). You're doing a new install, right? Not upgrading? Bummer about Logos no longer running

Well, I think my install is knackered... :-( Restart and indexing didn't do anything -- it's still crashing; and I don't know what else to try. It sure was nice when it just worked. :-P I'd be game to start from scratch, but the thought of downloading everything again gives me chills. I know people say you can save your existing downloaded resources
"Following installation please ensure the LogosIndexer.exe is set to 'vista' and Logos.exe is set to 'win7' for best performance." I tried unsuccessfully to do the fast-install ferion11 script. Through ./controlPanel.sh winetricks, I can set something to win7 or vista, but how do I individually set an .exe to one or the other

Thanks, Frank. How would I find out if I downloaded the troublesome datasets? I do *not* have to double-click to open menus, and I can open things like Tools > Atlas and Notes. But as soon as I try to open a resource -- crashola... I ran ./Logos.sh indexing; I see a bunch of things like: 0024:fixme:path:parse_url failed to parse L"System.Windows

I've been using the 'ferion scrip' version for a while, without serious trouble. Today Logos downloaded 85 MB of 'updates' and now it will start, but if I try to open a resource, Logos just disappears -- no crash report window, nothing... I'm running Logos 9.5.0.0019. Advice appreciated! ;-)
Thanks John! It's installed and seemed to work. Two issues though... - There's a process that kept on running underr Terminal. It seems to have stopped but I'm not sure what that's about. Is it OK to just shut Terminal down? - Now that I've closed Logos I don't know / can't seem to find where to go to open it again? [/quote

@ Capulo, Filipe Paes: Are you putting your mouse cursor right over the link or word you want to see? With my version of Linux (Wasta 20.04; Ubuntu derivative) and mouse (Microsoft Mobile Mouse 3500) I have to be off to the side a bit for the link to show it's active / ready to be clicked... It's something I've had to get used to, as I don't know any

My understanding of "Wine bottles" (perhaps somewhat cloudy) is that they provide an 'enclosed' environment for each Windows program you want to run in Linux -- each in their own 'bottle' representing a unique 'variety' of Wine (or Windows -- 10, 7, Vista, 98, 64-bit, 32-bit, etc., etc., etc.). Important note: some people call them "Wine prefixes"

Thanks for the suggestion, John. That's what I tried a number of replies above, but as I said, it creates a shortcut in /.local/share/applications, but there's nothing in the Start menu or on the Desktop. I can drag and copy a shortcut from Files to the Desktop, but I can't figure out how to get one in the Start menu. Oh, and the icon has changed on

I only put it on my desktop because I couldn't figure out where else to put it! Believe me, I like a clean desktop as well. But the launcher is not in the Start menu -- anywhere! -- and I can't move the desktop shortcut to the task bar. Like I said, something seems broken... :-(

Resources are downloaded and indexed, but I'm left feeling like things are 'broken' under the hood... For example, I created a shortcut with the ./Logos.sh shortcut command. One was created in /.local/share/applications. I copied this to the desktop and it worked -- once... Well, it still launches Logos, but the icon has changed from the blue cross

Yes, I did the "chmod +x" line. That made the "fast_install_etc" file show up green when I ran the "ls" command on the Downloads directory. I guess that 'approves' it somehow? Anyway, I selected the Wine 6.5 option on my last attempt and it's currently downloading resources -- 8% of 12.2 GB. I guess it's going to do it in multiple chunks. I'm a bit

I decided not to try to copy my data from a perfectly working and up to date version of Logos 9 running on my old computer. Instead, this time I just bit the bullet and told Logos to download everything (21 GB). It got through Step 1, but as soon as Step 2 started (0% of ...), Logos errored out... I'm really not sure what else to try. Definitely open

Just wondering which version of Wine you used, Jared? I have been selecting the first, default option to use native Wine; when the first "Question" screen pops up, I can see in the terminal behind that it's using wine-5.0 (the first time I ran the fast installer, I didn't have Wine installed, so it ended and told me to install it. I used Synaptic Package

Glad it's working for you, Jared! I'm on my second attempt at installing it... (and you can see the issues I faced a few pages back in this thread when I first tried the "fast install" script). I followed along with the video step-by-step, but even creating a shortcut doesn't work for me -- at least I don't find anything in the Start menu... :-( There

A bit of hunting revealed that ntlm_auth is part of samba ( https://www.tutorialspoint.com/unix_commands/ntlm_auth.htm ). I didn't have samba installed, so I went ahead and installed it. I tried running the fast install script again, but it still errored out... So then I looked more closely at the error message and thought that maybe "usually is necessary
